I like the movie. Robert Downey fricking kills it. His dialogue with the Booty Sweat black guy is hilarious. Tug Speedman is great too.

I think Tom Cruise isn't close to funny though. Tom Cruise in a fat suit cursing a lot?!? OMG!

ETA:

RDJ seriously should have gotten more recognition though. Everything he says and does is absolute money in this movie.

This X 1000. Love when Jack Black shows up late to the commentary with fast food. RDJ goes off on him for a while.

I must have had blinders on during the movie. When the credits rolled, and I realized that It was Tom Cruise in a fat suit my mind was blown. Hilarious.

Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, 'Rain Man,' look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho'. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, 'Forrest Gump.' Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain't retarded. Peter Sellers, "Being There." Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam." Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed..

Damn, guys. Thanks for reminding of the gold that is the DVD commentary on this movie.

That shite is funnier than the actual movie. And that's saying something.

I remember seeing it in the theater. When those fake ads started in the beginning, I didn't know what the hell was going on. They definitely filled me for a few seconds into believing it was a real ad.

One if the few comedies from my generation that had me laughing from start to finish.

Well he was (deservingly) nominated for an Oscar in a type of role that is not typically recognized.

Hated Tropic Thunder when I saw it in theaters. Almost walked out.

Comedies usually grow on me the more times I watch them, so it's gotten a little better.

But it's still nothing compared to other great comedies of the last ten years. Very mediocre movie.

Besides being a great movie, they filmed much of it in Kauai. I love Kauai and vacation there every other year. I see "Sleeping Giant" or other places I am familiar with and it makes ma ma ma happy.
