nope, I would have never left him out in Vegas w/a bunch of shitbags that could easily manipulate him either.

Nah, it was a line-crossing moment for Michael. We know from The Godfather III that if Michael could do it over he would have spared Fredo.

I was always curious about whether Tom Hagen was privy to this scheme, and if so what his thoughts were. Considering he was even voting against killing Roth, I'd like to think he never would have signed off on whacking family.

If Godfather took place today, Luca Brasi would be sleeping with the Kardashians instead of the fishes.

No.. Really showed how far Michael had fallen into the world.. Now, if he went around telling people that fredo had betrayed the family then his hands are tied but the movie gave the impression that only he had figured it out as Michael held everything close to the vest during that time..(never read the books). Add to that, Michael knew his weaknesses and put Fredo in a very poor spot in Las Vegas. It was inevitable that he would be taken advantage of at some point

One of the most heartbreaking moments in Part II is the banana daiquiri scene where Fredo almost confesses. "Mikey, I - I was mad at you...Why didn't we spend time like this before?" It really hammers home the fact that Fredo was merely looking to be given the time of day rather than a case of him wanting to make a power grab.

There's an argument that Fredo posed a threat to the family, but the calculated way Michael waited until after the mom dies proves it was personal rather than practical. Not to mention at the wake it's made pretty clear that Fredo is forever powerless within the family and thus can't be further leveraged by enemies.

No. Michael clipped his nuts a long time before he had him whacked. He wasn't a threat anymore. He could just cut him off completely. Freezing him out was business. Killing him was personal.

No.

Would have set him up elsewhere to start a empire for me. Say Korea or Bora Bora but I'm not killing family.

Yep. He tried to kill me once. I'm not giving him another opportunity to do it again.

Yes. Could not be trusted against enemies of the family that could/did/would seduce him. Love of fredo could allow him over time to become close and dangerous again.

In his HOME! Where his wife sleeps!!! And where his children come to play with their toys.

It was personal.
