To be fair, I used to have the ene credits (when they cycle through pictures of everybody) memorized.

Hollywood and Wolfman were a team.

Ice and Slider were a team.

Maverick and Goose were a team. (Merlin replaced Goose).

To add onto the Slider thing...he plays with toys.

Also, for a while I used to have an animated sig pic before Chicken axed it. It was Iceman doing the chomp.

I know this. Tell it to Napoleon.

I always hated Tim Robbins in TG. Merlin was such a pussy.

I'm concerned with the casting director - why cast all these tall motherfrickers to surround little tiny, 5'6" (MAYBE) Tom Cruise. He was like the lollipop guild, even with his lifts.

Kilmer is around 6' (give or take), Robbins is 6'3" or better (listed as tall as 6'5"), Rossovich is 6'3" or 6'4", and Anthony Edwards is 6'1" or 6'2".

I mean, good grief, if he didn't have a complex about his being one of the shortest leading men since Alan Ladd, he sure got one making that film.

(And, as mentioned above, his leading lady was 5'10" or so).

(ETA: And not terribly realistic - fighter pilots tend to run more "average" in height.)

I thought I read somewhere that IRL, Cruise wouldn't have been a pilot because he was too short (there was a minimum height).

Always wondered if that was true.

I think that's debunked, Cokes - USAF pilots can be pretty short, for sure, I think 5'4" or something like that. Cruise is between 5'5" and 5'6" barefoot - so I think he's probably good.

Again, bigger problem is over 6' - where it starts to get cramped in there with a flight helment, arms, legs, knees and elbows everwhere - and that's even if the tall cat is skinny.

And mass cubes...

Good catch - maybe he didn't partner up with Merlin until they got back to the Enterprise...

Gilyard (Sundown) is about the only actor that Cruise could look somewhat physically intimidating, so perhaps that's why it went down that way. He would have needed a ladder to get in Robbins (Merlin's) face.
