Stephen Amell teased that Flashpoint will have a big effect on the events of the fifth season of Arrow.

If the writers are smart they will hit the reset button on many of the events of seasons three and four, bring back Laurel, ditch Olicity, and bring the show back to its roots.

Who knows? If they do this I may even start watching again.

I will have to have confirmation the show doesn't suck. Then I'll consider watching it again.

Laurel's death is the thing that keeps me watching it. That actress is terrible and its addition by subtraction.

She was actually worth a shite in season 4 and she clearly deserved to end up with Oliver

Laurel was terrible.

In every season. Even as Black Canary.

Bring back Sara!

Agree to disagree.

Laurel was the only supporting character in the whole show that had anything close to a competent arc. I have never gotten the hate for the character or the actress.

Stopped watching season 4 ep 1. Maybe I'll give it a go again if this happens.

How? She barely had any lines and a reduced screen time in s4. So how is her dying making you keep watching? Her importance was already greatly reduced so much that her dying didn't change much.

Now if you want to talk about horrible charcter that would be Felicity. She's 5x times as bad as Laurel ever was and she's treated as the main character more than Oliver even is. Her and her family have take over the story line. I'd watch the show again if she dies which I don't think she ever will.

I got roasted by the Arrow fanboys when I spoke out against the show a while ago on here. Funny seeing everyone in this thread saying how terrible it is now

The actress wasn't bad, the writers just tanked her character in season 2, and it took them all of the way until the episode in which they killed her off to turn her character back to being likable. Felicity should've been the character that they killed off last year. As bad as the writers screwed Laurel in season 2, they screwed Felicity's 100x worse last season and this season.

I really hope they go all out with the Flashpoint storyline, and totally revamp Arrow. They need to make it so that Olicity never happened, and never will happen. They need to get him back to taking out criminals who "have failed this city", and make him a badass archer. Hell, it's gotten to where everyone in Star City can catch his damn arrows in mid-air. If they do a true reset with Flashpoint, I might give it another shot next season. But if I do, it'll be on a very short leash.

I just don't see it. Her acting is no better or worse than any of the other young actors on the show. In fact, of the main cast, I'd say she's probably one of the Top 2 or 3 actors on the show. Or was anyway.

They took a completely obscure character from D.C. Comics (Felicity Smoak) and made her dominate the show, even going so far as to kill off the primary love interest of the character (Black Canary)

That's not a big deal to me. Imo the problem is, they took a good sidekick character and forced a relationship that made no sense with two actors that don't have that kind of chemistry. This mistake ruined the sidekicks character and is a huge anchor on the story as a whole.

The thing is, Felicity doesn't have to die. As we saw when she and Ray hooked up, if paired with the right character or written as she should be, she could go right back to being season 1 Felicity.

The writers veering so far from why this show was great isn't as frustrating to me as much as why won't they veer back?

Its not the character of Felicity and its not the actress that plays her. Its the oddity of the more screen time a female character gets on Arrow the worse she becomes. This is a writing problem and unless Flashpoint resets the writers and producers for Arrow it won't help any.

I don't have a problem with the actress or the original version of the character. You're right though. The writers screwed it up and continued to do so. A total reboot of the writing staff couldn't make things worse seeing as I can't watch the show any less than I currently do.
