I agree about season 7. I thought it was excellent.

You can adore the show and be disappointed in the very real dip in quality from seasons 4-6.

FNL is one of the best shows of all time. Season 2 was a disaster. Still better than most shows, but not up to high standard the show had set for itself in season 1 and reached again in seasons 3-5.

Just started a rewatch of WW. On episode 7 and loving it all over again.

Anyone have thoughts on Buffy? Never watched it, but keep thinking about diving in

The West Wing set a new standard for TV dramas with Hollywood level production qualities. It kicked off a renaissance that led to the current golden age. A landmark in American television.

Best show that I have ever seen.

Each episode is like a really good movie.

The section where Zoe gets kidnapped - those 4-5 episodes - was just phenomenal. If that was all a movie, it would be an amazing movie that people would be talking about for a long time.

Excellent show. I've watched it through and will do so again.

Sorkin should come back and do a spinoff with Sam Seaborn as a congressman. Bring in Josh as well. As good as Will Bailey was as a character, the golden era of the show had Sam in it. He was great.

Why not come back with a spinoff in the West Wing universe? There are so many more story lines that could be covered. Rob Lowe would be crazy not to do it. Let Toby get out of jail by now and have a role for Josh. They aren't doing anything else. Then, maybe have Sam run for president or something.

It would be a huge hit. Or, better than the other garbage on now.

we're gonna get the names of the damn commandments right.

I love the show but that was actually one of the weakest moments in the show.

A minister would clearly know the commandments. It was silly to think he wouldn't.

I still love that scene but it always grates me a bit that Sorkin would think a minister wouldn't know the commandments.

Wasn't just the writing. Superb acting by just about everyone and someone had a great knack for matching the perfect songs to the scenes.

The streets of Heaven indeed.

Wasn't it Mary Marsh who didn't know the commandments? She was a hack. But, they showed respect for Al Caldwell, who was the Jerry Falwell character. They were frustrated with him because he tolerated Mary Marsh and her extremism.

Yeah, Mary Marsh wasn't a minister.

She was part of a Christian Right think tank/lobbying group deal.

But the minister with Marsh said well what is it? Like he wasn't sure.

Also, still think Marsh would know the commandments. I love when Bartlett would go off like that, just didn't feel any of the people he went off on wouldn't know the commandments.

You have to understand. Religious schools beat those into you from the day you can read through 12th grade. Then protestants have bible school after church so it just didn't ring true to me.

Still liked Bartlett being Bartlett. Just like when he mopped the floor with the radio bitch who wouldn't stand up.

Great, great series...in my top 3 as well...

My favorite episode is the first one with Ainsley Hayes...

Sam---"please, please let them not be watching..."
cut to Josh
"Come quick, Sam is getting his arse kicked by a girl"
Toby--"Get the popcorn" as he runs out the room...

At times should have been called the left wing, but well produced and I did like Sheen's portrayal of Bartlett.

I start watching a couple of months back (along with a slew of other shows I had to watch on top of this great one) and now that SOA and BB came out and many others, I'm stuck on season 6.

Pretty much everything everyone says in this thread is spot on about the show

I think the original intent of the show was to follow sam seaborn as the main character with bartlett as a supporting character. I think thats why bartlett is barely in the pilot.

However, Sheen did so well that bartlett became the focus, and Lowe left the show.
