SportsNight is my second favorite Sorkin show.

I enjoy the Newsroom enough to watch it on HBOGo, but it's not must-see TV for me. Ill catch up on seasons when they end.

I tried the newsroom but can't watch it. The self righteous liberal agenda is for the birds. This coming from a liberal. New room is too up in my face.

Yeah I'm certainly not a liberal and it sucks sometimes but i just have to ignore it, I'm only halfway through the first season so I'm hoping at some point he will go on a little run of hating on Democrats but I know that probably won't happen

I tried to like sports night but it just wasn't for me I guess. Then I got to the scene where the new, young guy is all upset about the hunters killing the baby deer and, similar to what Token said, that liberal view point was simply too much for me to continue watching

It was so bad it made me nauseas

You were upset that a liberal, New York Jew opposed hunting? It would have been absolutely absurd for him to approve of it. It's important to note which characters are saying the words, and there's simply no way that is an inaccurate character beat. It would be shocking if Jeremy DIDN'T feel that way. But that really wasn't the point of the episode (the aftermath of the speech was: "My instincts told me to shut up and stay in line." "Your instincts were wrong") It's a character beat about Jeremy learning to express his views, and being accepted as one of the gang.

(I'm completely indifferent to hunting -- I just don't like getting up early)

The West wing's politics are liberal, but they do a decent job of giving voice to conservative viewpoints. Leo is a hawk, and guides the president on a foreign policy that's pretty in line with the conservatives. And despite some missteps here and there, Sorkin did create opposition Republicans who weren't vile opportunists (Ainsley, of course, but also remember the GOP Congressmen who throw them a bone during Leo's S1 troubles "I want to investigate you two for being stupid", John Goodman's Speaker of the House). It's a proudly liberal show, and there's no getting around it, but they didn't always knock over strawmen (though sometimes he did, and those are the weakest moments of the show -- except for Ritchie, who was just fun to knock over more for being a doofus, not a conservative).

In case you were wondering, "crime, boy, I dont know" thats when I decided to kick your arse.

Haffley was the worst republican character by far. All though I love the episode where they walk to the hill.

Cliff Calley (Mark Feuerstein) wasn't bad either as a Republican.

It's not that I had a huge issue with the hunting thing I just didn't like the show very much to stay with and that was the straw that broke the camels back

Haffley isn't a Sorkin character. I do not consider S4-S7 to be the same show, honestly. That's when it dips from great to pretty good. But it also cleans up some of its political problems as Wells doesn't have any beliefs as far as I can tell.

I agree with this. Shoot, the GOP nominee vs Santos came off as a great canidate.

Ya, Vinick probably should have won the election.

Would have really liked to see the show keep going with the Santos administration and Josh running the show.

I believe originally Santos was supposed to win, but as the show went on and Vinick was so great, there was a real debate in the writers room on who would/should win the election. After the death of John Spencer (Leo McGarry) that pretty much silenced the debate and they went with Santos

I believe there were talks of another season, but again, after the death of Leo, they were done

You know what would be great? If they came back with Sam Seaborn running for president with Will Bailey on his team.

I'd watch the shite out of that.
