Great. Now all I can think of is Danny Devito as Rorschach.

I think that Snyder's greatest accomplishment is that he prevented us from getting a really, really terrible Watchmen adaptation.

True. Comic fanboys are gonna complain no matter what. Its a solid movie and a good change of pace from what Marvel and DC are giving us these days.

I really liked this movie.

My favorite quote:

I think it's a great film and an extremely well done adaptation of the book.

Rorschach was probably the best part of the entire movie,
they cut the most important scene for Rorschach's character development.

which pretty much summed up the movie. They didnt get the comic.

Movie was alright though

You just wanted to leave it at that? No explanation. No link.

The elements of Rorschach's character were prevalent throughout. The narration, the scene where he chopped that guy's head in half, the scene with the psychiatrist, the line "even in the face of Armageddon" was said, the beans scene, I could go on. His character was very well established and was exactly the same as the character in the comic.

As for the rest of the movie, what did they not get? Dr. Manhattan was PERFECTLY conceived on screen. The elements of "how far should we go to save the world" were present throughout the entire movie. Some aspects were portrayed better than I ever thought they could be. Is it a perfect movie? No. But I believe Snyder got a lot of stuff dead on in that movie, and he deserves credit for it, IMO.

Agreed.

Watchmen is s complex book. Snyder gave us a great version. It could've been so much worse.

loved the movie - met the guy that played Rorschach at a comic show and got an autographed graphic novel.

It's good, but even if I forgive that they had to do the pirate comic book separately due to time constraints it still just doesn't live up to the graphic novel. Maybe it's the casting of the style it was filmed, but it just doesn't have near the impact. Can't put my finger on it. The graphic novel is an all-time great story/ work of art in any medium IMO.

I'll put my finger on it for you. It's a retelling of a story you already knew. Of course it's not going to have the same impact of a story you were not familiar with when you read it.

Has any movie ever lived up to the written material it came from? Especially if that source material is an award winning loved masterpiece?

Watchmen is the best superhero movie out there, and I'm a die-hard X-Man fan.

The movie is just made beautifully and also has the added bonus of doing a good job of capturing the time period that the story was conceived in well.

There is no hope. He can't be defeated. The squid could be defeated.
Our country would not give up the fight. It doesn't matter if they did know he could not be defeated. The point of the movie is not whether or not the attacker could be defeated, it's whether or not the world would come together to TRY to defeat it. They would. No doubt. In actuality, there is no future threat. It was a one time attack that will not be repeated. It doesn't matter who they think the attacker is, really. The world is safe.
