I liked it, if that's your question. It's well done. I'm fascinated with nature, geology and such.
It's not a movie. It's a documentary. You pick up on that fact pretty early on when watching.

Wife and I enjoyed it. Unimaginable that this was offered as a cruise excursion I wonder if the cruise lines were sued? We also noticed out of the 21 people that died that 2 families were literally taken out. Good watch and getting burned the way some of the survivors did Damn.

Yeah the young Aussie guy really messed me up. Saw his mom dead, father dying, and his sisters remains were never recovered. On top of almost dying and being in a coma. And was relatively upbeat for most of the film until he started talking about the outcome.
And I believe the doc said no families received any damages from any businesses nor theNZ govt. For whomever asked

I’m surprised they never recovered the sisters body. My memory of it was that they couldn’t find her, not that they had to make a decision to not recover her body. Where did she go? She was with the tour guide and he was found. Maybe others were also never found but it seems odd she would be that far away from anyone else. The brother made it sound like she was just ahead of him and his parents.
Also, I don’t believe the documentary mentioned settlements. It just stated no one has ever taken responsibility. I wondered if the people from the cruises sued or not because they strongly hinted that the cruise line did not give enough warning about the risks.

If you're already burnt to hell, in pain and disoriented, it wouldn't be hard to believe you might stumble into the lake of acid a few steps away and tumble in, never to be seen again.

I think the doc said no one took responsibility. But there were plenty of lawsuits filed. Obviously, the tourism industry TO the volcano got obliterated. This was December 2019, which was bum's luck for them anyway. Wuhan was gonna shut down stuff ... though not permanently.
The 2 things about 'The Authorities' which I found most abhorrent was that they first shut down any rescue attempt and just left whoever was out there to perish. Maybe they were already dead but sending a Huey or 2 might have saved some. At least give it a shot.
But secondly, when the copter pilot said he was coming in with a load of survivors, he was told to land some distance away and then they'd transfer the patients via ambulance. Given that time was of the essence, he ignored their instructions and went directly to the hospital. Probably saved more than 1 life with that decision. Good on him.

Those helicopter pilots are badasses.
Clear the airspace around the island
"If nobody is coming we'll do it ourselves"
Do not land at the hospital. Go to the airport.

I'll never understand people who make such comments in the wake of such events.
It's just so misplaced and unnecessary. What the hell is even wrong with you? These aren't characters in a dramatic series. These people almost got cooked alive and have the scars to show for it. 22 others died, and never made it off that island.

What exactly annoyed you? That they were burned on something like 60-80% of their bodies, have endured countless surgeries with countless more to come? Or just that they had the nerve to tell their story from their point of view? How fricking annoying.

That is certainly plausible and makes sense if they never could find her body. It’s not like there were animals on the island to take her away. I just have this picture in my mind of her being in front of the brother and parents and not making it back to them and then past them to the edge of the crater. Doesn’t mean that’s not what happened.

What's worse is those people had to endure a 90 minute boat ride back to shore with severe burns, getting splashed with ocean water.
Kill me.
Kill me.
