She left his poor arse when she ran into the alien blocking the escape pod. Jones had to stare down the alien all by his lonesome.

He was probably down to 5 or 4 lives at that point.

Interesting. Both are remakes of a sort. Alien is a modern version of It, the Terror from Beyond Space, where a rocketship landed on Mars, and while there picked up a hitchhiker who started whacking crew members one by one when the ship was headed back to Earth. The alien was a big guy in an ugly suit, like the original Thing.

The Thing was a remake, with John Carpenter sticking more closely to the source book, Who Goes There. The special effects were not there yet to create a shape shifting alien when the first version was filmed in 1951. Carpenter's version was a study in paranoia.

From a holy sh#t angle, you'd think getting mouthraped by a giant spider and giving explosive chest birth to a screeching baby xenomorph would carry the day on all-time creepouts.

But The Thing was creepier. Can't say it's better, but it's fersure creepier.

Both are some of my favorite movies but the Thing is one of my top 10 and is my favorite horror movie.

I really love that movie.

When they are testing everyone's blood in The Thing, it's so tense and awesome. and funny

If the question were Aliens Vs The Thing then I wouldn't be able to choose, but as it stands now I would go with

The Thing.

The Thing From Another World is actually really good.

This is a tough call, and I could switch on another day. Right now, today, I'll choose Alien. Though I'll say that the blood testing scene in Thing was fricking great. Just so tense and suspenseful.

That has to be one of my favorite black and white horror movies along with Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I believe I saw it in color. Came on super late one night when I was in college, and I happened to caatch it at the beginning. And I sat in my bed and watched the whole damn thing.

Was that the one with Donald Sutherland? If so, that was the second version.

Kevin McCarthy starred in the original, which had a "happy" ending.

Like others, I enjoyed both, but I will say I prefer Alien. Just a better movie IMO.
