I kind of agree with that.

But I fear my mind may be clouded by Pratt being the new JGL/Elba for this board

When a remake is made, it erases the original from existence?
Kind of. Yeah. Every time I see The Longest Yard on the channel guide, it's the shitty remake. Total Recall, Robocop, same thing.

this was one of my favorite movies when i was a kid. remaking certain movies would be sacrilege, and to be honest, this isn't one of those movies. this is exactly the type of movie that could be remade. i agree that the rock is a complete 180 of kurt russell, but time will tell.

That's almost exactly what I was going to say. Totally fine with this remake, and I love this movie. The Rock's humor is perfect for Burton, yeah's not Everyman enough, but oh well. I wanna see this.

It doesn't piss me off but I have no desire to see this. If I want to watch Big Trouble in Little China I think I'll just stick with the original.

Usually ok with remakes, but this movie is FAR too unique and a part of its to be a remake.

Kind of makes me mad.

It's more than that. Simply put, can you name a more 80s film than "Big Trouble in Little China"? It is a film that defines the decade in a glorious and not so glorious way. Pratt is the only guy who I can see possibly pulling it off. The Rock is about as 80s as Jim Parsons is. No way this can carry a remotely similar tone.

Agree with others that Pratt would have been perfect

There are just some movies that belong to a particular time and place and simply can't be divorced from their context. "Big Trouble in Little China" is just about the most quintessential mid-'80s cheese imaginable. I don't care about the fact that they're remaking it. It's their choice. But a remake will never manage to capture that mid-80s spirit, no matter how 'good' it is in objective terms. It's just not the sort of movie that could ever have been made, at least not in the form we saw, outside of the mid-'80s. Any attempt to remake it will simply be a completely different movie in spirit.

One of my favorite movies of all time.
I'm afraid what they'll do to this classic.

Not to many chances taken and not to much originally shown these days. Shoot, its gotten so bad. I'll give a movie kudos just for being original now.

It'll be forgotten like most other remakes. This is a non issue...like most other remakes.

Why does everyone say this? He was in GotG and now in JW. His next movie, according to IMDb, will come out in 2017. I know he is on Parks and Recs but I don't think he is in everything. Bautista on the other hand is.

Why a remake? Why not just make it a sequel? 30 years after original, the supernatural forces that were defeated in he first film have returned. Let Rock be the hero of this new movie and have Russell make a cameo as Jack Burton.

shite, why just a cameo? Let Russell actually co star and copy the original's idea. Have the Rock be the kick arse guy that Wang was and have Russell reprise his role to team up with him. Russell's Jack Burton teaming up with a wise cracking Rock could be hilarious. If you're going to bring back this movie in any way (which I am strongly against), that sounds a lot better than a complete re-cast, imo
