its an interesting theory on how strong could raditz have become. it really just points out how ridiculous piccolo and gokus power levels jump in just one years time

With that said, the biggest power increase to me was in the Cell Games. The mini Cells wrecked shop on everyone and here comes SSJ2 Gohan beating them into dust. Literally. That was flipping awesome

I have a question that needs to be answered. When goku tells vegeta that he is far above him in power in the cell arc. What level do you think goku is at? A high powered ss1? ss2? or could he even possibly know how to go to ss3? I've always taken it goku could have beat cell but he wanted to pass torch onto gohan?

Vegeta was the 2nd grade super saiyan or some called it an ascended super saiyan. Trunks was a step beyond that at third grade super saiyan which is better power but less speed because he become muscle bound.
Goku and Gohan were fully powered super saiyans. They trained in the super sayain form and practiced in maintaining it to where it became natural. All of these are just different levels of mastery of the original super saiyan form and below SSJ2. SSJ2 is an entirely new transformation, and Gohan is the first to reach it.
This is the explanation of the different super saiyan levels on the db wiki.

One of my favorite moments in the show is when Trunks recalls their time in the Chamber and can't figure out why Vegeta just stood out in the training ground and meditated. When he finally realizes that his dad has the foresight to see their were too many speed drawbacks to the extra power and he couldn't asend further he just stood in disappointment concentrating on his fight while Trunks, moron that he is, kept training and becoming and even bigger failure in his father's eyes.
