You summed it up pretty damn good. Vegeta is one intense motherfricker, and will always hold the edge as my favorite character.
Something else to think about. Maybe Vegeta has an unlocked power like Gohan. When Gohan is enraged, his hidden power surfaces, making him much more powerful. Vegeta reacts very similarly at times. Some examples...
Vegeta tells how he became a Super Saiyan
Vegeta attacks Cell
Vegeta attacks Bills
Seems like Vegeta gets a power increase when he stops giving a frick.

i wouldnt say he has unlocked power. i just think its a saiyan thing. goku also has those moments like when he first went ssj. saiyans are able to have huge increases in power when provoked.

I understand this, but it seems a little different with Vegeta. Maybe it's just how he is. He goes all out on attacks, and winds up blowing his wad.

I'm torn. He only was able to turn SSJ once he admitted to himself he wasn't stronger than Goku. But last movie he knows he can at the very least for a short time ascend past Goku.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, but is it known if Goku will retain the power level boost he got from the SS God form in the next movie?
