Yep.

The Office was probably the last great comedy made before the misfits, losers, and perpetual “victims” took over western society.

Don't bring reason to a thread where people 'authoritatively' post about how
bad a show that doesn't have a full cast yet, hasn't had its premise publicly announced, and won't come out for years, is going to be.

This will be an absolute disaster. I am a self proclaimed Office/UK/US/Greg Daniels/Ricky Gervais historian. This will be exactly the same as if Gervais gave his entire intellectual property to the producers of Broad City

Always Sunny still gets away with a lot of crazy shite.

Not saying this show will toe that line, but to act like it’s been completely eradicated is disingenuous

Yeah because no shows have anything like that anymore

But on network TV?

Not sure if this is going to be available only via a streaming or on a cable network like FX (they let Always Sunny push the limits and then some lol) but if it is on a network like its predecessor I can’t imagine them being able to get away with some of the stuff Michael and company said and did.

It's gonna have a half black cast, a woman Michael, gay people everywhere and will be a complete fricking disaster

This is the only reason it's even being remade, like all remakes the goal is to denigrate the memories and love of the original and replace it with vomit.

This whole muh generation was better and less sensitive is hilariously sad. Especially when the same people saying this are also the ones bitching about society becoming more and more evil and degenerate

The shows emboldened, I've seen. Big mouth doesn't make offensive race, gender or gay jokes at all. That show's edgy humor comes from a different source entirely.

Family guy, American Dad and Southpark, I haven't watched in years. Can they still get away with the same offensive racist/gender/sexist humor that got them where they are now?

The others I haven't seen at all. Do those shows routinely engage in soft racism, sexism and crass gay jokes the way The Office did?

Are any of the shows you've listed, currently allowed to offend protected classes? I really wouldn't know.

Family Guy made a gay joke, then broke the 4th wall and had one character say "I thought we not doing that anymore" to which I think Peter said "that quote was taken out of context". So yeah they're still doing offensive jokes.

The fact that you don’t understand how cartoons are able to get away with more today than sitcoms with real people says enough. You are dumb or willfully ignorant if you don’t understand what is going on there.

And I didn’t create this narrative. It is reality. Yes, some true comedies still exist today, but they are few and are often they are grandfathered in, like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I will say that I think streaming networks like Netflix are starting to take more chances in comedies now, with greenlighting a new sitcom with Shane Gillis. Hopefully it is just the beginning.
