I wasn't horrible to me but I went with three people who grew up on the Fraser Mummy movies and they hated it.

Tom Cruise always plays Tom Cruise so he was good but the premise was bad. It wasn't really a Mummy movie.

I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters and the story. I suppose they did a decent job of laying the foundation for the world however.

Can someone please tell me what fricking difference there was in Cruise stabbing himself? Spends the whole movie avoiding it, plays a role in letting the mummy free from "prison," and then he does it himself? Only thing I got is the fact that he didn't start in thrall to the mummy, meant he maintained control. Except for the whole thing with having a god within him. They typically win these kinds of internal battles by TKO.

I think he stabbed himself to save Jenny.

The mummy chick told him if he stabbed himself he would have power or something like that...

Wow, and this is supposed to be a lead-off film for a major Universal franchise.

I have never seen a movie work harder or more hopelessly than Universal’s new The Mummy, not merely to launch a new franchise, but to jump from a standing start into a full-blown Marvel-style shared cinematic universe in one go.

Rottentomatoes has crushed me on this film.

I was pumped to see it for months and now I'm gonna go in knowing it's probably gonna be shitty.

frick RT.
