Billy Madison is the most underrated movie by Adam Spangler.

Was it necessary to punish every person who actually experienced thought or emotions (other than blind joy) with death or disability? Do the writers believe the curse of humanity isn't cruelty or evil, but sentience or complexity?
I never thought about it like this.
That's rather poignant.

Alx,
Right there with you. I've tried Lebowski a couple times and just can't sit through it.
As far as The Village, I saw it in theaters. I didn't care for it at first because it was not what the trailers made it out to be. But I like it more and more on each rewatch. And any realistic trailer would spoil the movie. Very solid movie.
I'll add....
1. Avatar
2. Year one
The Star Wars prequels

Superman Returns. Rated 9/10. Best Superman movie ever.
I agree. Never understood the hate for this movie.

Man of Steel. I rated 4/10. Boring action sequences.
Disagree. Thought Superman Returns was a better all around movie but MoS was pretty freaking solid.

Ooo... glad someone brought up Easy Rider. Well up on my Most Hated Movies list. Good call.
I feel like there has been a hipster backlash against Frozen, especially in the effort to prop up Tangled as a better movie. Now I don't want to say Tangled is terrible, because its quite good, but there's a reason Frozen caught the zeitgeist and Tangled didn't. Frozen is a far better constructed movie, and it's final act is actually set up with the course of events, unlike Tangled, which really is a deus ex machina.
If you're gonna look for theanti-Frozen film, you should be promoting the actually underrated recent Disney film: Princess and the Frog.
This is a bit of a problem with Disney films, as I feel there's been a trend to overly praise Disney films which fail their primary audience: little kids. I love Wall-E, but my toddler can't sit through it. Ratatouille is very well regarded by critics, and most children I know are indifferent towards it. I'm not saying we have to pretend Cars is a good movie because little kids love Mater, but there should be an element of whether this works as a children's entertainment.

Meh it's set up by a quick line from the rock monsters. And most fairy tales resolve their problems with magical solutions pulled out of the air.
Not that either is bad, but I like Tangled more cause there's less music and the conflict is deeper and more logical. Keeping your daughter locked away so that she develops social issues seems to be a really shitty way of preparing her for dealing with people who might have reason to be afraid of her.

That's sort of the point. The film doesn't posit that the parents' strategy is a positive. In fact, quite the opposite. The resolution of the film is the daughters rejecting their parents' advice.
And it's more than one line, the movie plays on our own preconceptions and expectations of a fairy tale, only to subvert them in the finale. We jumped to conclusions because we'd been trained to do so by decades of Disney movies. Meanwhile, the answer had been staring us in the face, but we moved past it in the expectation of what True Love means in a fairy tale.
Oh, Waterworld sucks. So here's one person who hates it.
