It's certainly not an upbeat show, but it has me quite interested.

Got renewed for a second season. I enjoy it, and like watching how whatever happened is affecting people.

I think it's great. Personally, I like the mystery and being in the dark. It sucks when the payoff falls short (ahem, LOST), but it's fun wondering wtf is going on and speculating.

I watched two episodes. Gave up. And then they played all of the episodes back to back and I got back into it. Now I'm sticking it out until the end of the season.

Couple of thoughts
It never should have been a summer show. It is way too dark for the summer
It is an emotional beat down, no sunshine at all
It is missing a comic relief type character. Some people deal with grief with humor and that is seriously missing in the show

I agree. I feel like it focuses on one storyline too often which causes you to be left wondering about the others.

Tried watching the first episode. Too depressing. Waiting for the spoilers thread so I can find out where erebody went.

I like it. It took 2-3 episodes to hit it's stride. But it has really ramped up.
I enjoy a lot of the characters.
What was weird SPOILERS:
Through the first 3-4 episodes all I wanted was for the citizens to revolt and remove or kill the cult people. Then when it actually happened I was sad for her. They did a good job of making you hate them, then in the way they killed one immediately feel sympathy for them.
Also, does anyone else think he fricked the daughters friend? I'm pretty sure they've fricked or are going to at some point.

They are definitely trying to make you think that, so probably not.

Pretty much why I quit watching it. Tool little payoff for the emotional abuse it puts you through, imo.
