So I've watched some of the earlier episodes on Netflix lately....and man, just not very good. Maybe I'm letting the hate I eventually developed for most of the characters in the later seasons sour me, but I haven't found it nearly as funny as I did at the time.

Not sure who's worse, Taco or Raffii.

It's also entirely too self referential

Early seasons are extremely funny. It eventually became entirely too contrived and probably went a little longer than it should have. Got away from the initial foundation of being about fantasy football and then stopped being funny.

I used to think that, but not so much now.

It was always a stupid comedy that relied on obnoxious shock value. It had a few amusing moments, but it mostly capitalized on the fantasy sports craze.

probably why it gets worse upon re watch.

Also disagree with straying away from fantasy is what hurt it, some of that was when it felt most contrived. The awful athlete cameos, making roster decisions you'd never have to make in an 8team league, etc.

It was amusing for a season or two but went to shite quickly. I remember getting into an argument with someone who said the writers were brilliant and the show was great. This was around Season 3 mind you.

Not surprising really. And now I hate Kevin since he lied about missing his flight on 9/11 or something like that

The athlete cameos became so lame. Like they used the show as an excuse to hang out with professional football players.

I don't think they were ever not lame.

JJ Watt's was probably among the worst.

Feel the same way about workaholics... someone tell me I'm wrong? Have not watched in a couple of seasons

The League did go on for just a tad bit too long

Cameos were dreadful and became more and more frequent

They ran out of fantasy football material after like season 2, then overcompensated for it with 1000 more Rafi/Taco scenes

Then the just hammered home the same 4 jokes way too many times. Ripping on Andre was hilarious and then it just got stale

Basically it was a victim of it's own success. I'd watch a new series with the same crew if the subject was more sustainable of a plot. They still had some super funny stuff throughout the show

I'm watching the series for the first time on netflix and it's pretty obvious the writers got lazy and doubled down on each character as seasons went on...Taco became more retarded every year, Ruxin became
more of a dick, Kevin was emasculated more and more, Andre said weird stuff that was immediately pounced on, etc

The first two to three seasons of that show were awesome. I think you're letting how bad it turned out in the end color your views on the earlier one.

The early episodes were basically Sunny but without the characters being complete and utter losers.
