Looking forward to this. Most of the reviews have been talking about how good it looks but after the tv spots, I've been skeptical. I'm expecting something inconsequentially enjoyable.

The preview before Zootopia yesterday looked awesome. It was one of my favorite Disney stories, so I'm pretty excited.

I can't wait to see it. I'm more excited than my 6 year old is and he's pretty excited.

I remember watching the trailer thinking "looks cool but no bear necessities no care"

Then I see the scene at the end where he's sitting on Baloo's belly in the river and I was like "hell yes!"

I was interested at first, but I think Shere Khan is a bit too street for me.

I don't understand why King Louie is so fricking huge.

He is almost as big as King Kong in this film.

I'm sure this will be good, but man, the original's voices were perfection.

You can't improve on George Sanders and Louie Prima.

I'm looking forward to it.

Just found out that Garry Shandling (RIP) had the bit role of Ikki, the neurotic porcupine.

Looks great except my 3 year old isn't going anywhere near it, she was pretty terrified by the preview.

What does that say about Disney when I can't take my kid to see the movie...

FWIW, I'd rather them be frightened for a few minutes each movie then have to deal with the dead parent plot mechanism that seems to be a staple of most of their KIDS movies. Can you let a parent live every now and then? Zootopia was fantastic...no dead parents.

My 7 year old daughter was frightened by the preview as well, said she didn't want to see it, but the 5 year old boy loved it.

the '67 Disney cartoon is not the original film adaptation.

it was first put to film in 1942 and was a box office success.

Kipling's Rikki Tikki Tavvi was always a childhood favorite of mine. It's one of the stories in that book.

And yet you knew exactly what I was referring to.

Well since you said Louis Prima yeah, I knew which version you meant.

Besides, I always assume that when a person says "Oh I love the original" in reference to an adapted work they are actually talking about whatever movie they grew up watching on TV and probably don't realize it's likely also a remake. (this is especially true with Disney flicks)

It was the same thing with Ben Hur. Half this board thinks the Charlton Heston version is the original when it's such a shameless remake they straight up copied the final chariot race nearly shot for shot from the 1920s version.

Hell, it happened also when Oz came out. People were bitching that you can't remake a classic and pretty much nobody realized the musical with Judy Garland was like the 4th time it had been made.
