They probably took down all the Jedi statues as well.

mark Hamill supposed to have a smaller role than fisher and ford?

Yes but that doesn't mean he has to die. I would be shocked if Luke actually dies before episode 9. Using pure logic...Ford likely isn't signing up for more than one movie..he already has plans to do another indy jones. He and kasdan wanted solo to die in rotj...but Lucas overruled. If anyone bites it it will be Solo.

I think the movie is clearly about finding this legendary person who may or may not be real named Luke skywalker. We know Hamill is in the movie so they likely find him in the end. Now who is he now and what kind of shape is he in...that is the big question...sets up the next episode.

I think Finn is force sensitive because he is the love child of Leia and Lando Calrissian.

Leia kept it from Han all these years, and when Finn comes home, she has some explaining to do.

The part where they look sad is when they find out that it's Finn, not Rey that is Leia's child.

By the way... these names are all dumb... keeping with Star Wars tradition, apparently - Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo, Snoke... Just rolls right off the tongue....

At the end of ROTJ, there were no more Sith and only one Jedi left in the entire universe . . . and he went into hiding.

With the exception of those very close to the situation, not many people would even realize that the Jedi and Sith were playing a role in the OT. In ANH, there are a lot of comments alluding to the Jedi and Force being a "myth" or "ancient religion." It's not crazy to think that the vast majority of people in the universe believe it to just be a fairy tale.

It looks like the whole galaxy is in shambles following Jedi. No one has bothered to pick up the garbage or wrecked spaceships?

I say Luke has a bigger role than many of us think, and that he continues that role through some of the future movies.

I think that planet is like a planetary Bangladesh. Like a place where scrapping is the number one source of money and all old things end up there and are picked apart.

I guess it's the New Republic in order now. I can't see the First Order running things if they are not the Empire.
Maybe the Republic saw the Jedi as failing to protect the galaxy and that the future was better without them and maybe even exiled Luke.

Moss, this is a good point and one undoubtedly omitted in my mind due to the fact that I've read most of the EU books. In those, Luke rebuilds the Order. It makes logical sense. But what happens if Luke moves to Dagobah and goes Yoda? Hmmm.... I just didn't see that happening. I don't think its what Ben or Yoda would've wanted for Luke either. We shall see.

That was the prophecy. All Vader did was kill a sith and put a halt on the war. New siths are coming.
This is where you are wrong. He brought balance by realizing what he had become and to end the struggle destroy the most powerful sith.

I do not know that these next few films will be about the battle between the light side and dark side.

My theory:

Its been speculated that the hot shot x-wing pilot Poe is also force sensitive. In the trailer he looks like he is held captive by Kylo Ren. I am going to predict that Ren will train him in the dark ways of the force and take him as an apprentice.

I'm not sure about that. It's not cannon anymore but the EU books about the original Je'daii had an interesting take on finding balance with the force. It definitely would not include wiping out the Sith. Again, it's not cannon but I can't help but wonder if Disney still won't use that idea.

The Empire wiped out all the Jedi, Luke wiped out the Sith. Nobody around to train new Jedi or Sith so you have force users running around here and there with Ren as the most skilled wannabe around with at Vader fetish. Luke turns up to train the NKOTB.

The New Republic never happened as nobody was strong enough to rule, hence the trash has not been picked up and technology is old.

Chewie dies.

Luke's severed hand plays into this as well as the lightsaber it was holding.

Agreed. He's already been spotted on set for episode 8. I highly doubt anything happens to him in TFA.

Sadly, I think you're right and I think it's akin to killing off The Lone Ranger or Tarzan in that the character has reached almost mythological status.

Hamill held out in contract negotiations which is why he's not in any trailers or marketing.

quote:

I don't think Luke is the Sith Lord

There are no Sith in this movie.
