While on Earth 2, iris gave Joe her ring. In past episodes was she wearing it the night died? I can't remembering.

I don't believe for one second that the real Iris West that Barry is engaged to died last night. She may have been a time remnant, or someone else all together, or the events last night didn't even happen yet and we watched someone dreaming or some kind of time travel crap.

This was my original thought, but unfortunately they didn't have time to do that after iris was taken.

Or Barry could just not decide not to let the darkness overcome him in the future thus not turning into Savitar thus never going back in time to kill her in the 1st place.
Savitar is "immortal" bc he is living in a loop. There are 2 ways to break the loop. Stop the point where Iris dies or stop the point when Barry decides to be Savitar. The failed at the 1st part but there is still hope for the second part.
I still think Kaitlin is the key. She is still fighting inside Frost. Her will was rejuvenated when Barry's mind was wiped so Savitar is unaware of what happened.

A big key that supports that theory is Iris not saying "I love you" before being killed.
I also think they wouldn't have reminded us of the face swapping tech again this episode had they not intended to use it for this.

That's fine and all but who would actually sacrifice their life to save Iris. The only 1 I could think of is Joe and he was standing right there on the rooftop when Savitar killed whoever. I mean I guess they could have gone to the future to grab Joe as an old man but that seems a little to much.

HR gave that whole speech about not helping. Agree with why else use that face swapping gizmo if not to remind us it exists. HR somehow swapped with Iris, and speed cannon girl takes his place on the team.

This Barry never becomes Savitar. Savitar is a time remnant Barry Allen. If Barry never uses a time remnant to trap Savitar, how is Savitar born?
