**mild spoiler**

My wife was just staring at the screen like she didn't know why I was clapping and yelled "HOLY frick." I had to pull up IMDB and showed her the cast names from the original movie.

**SPOILER**

Yeah. That caught me off guard. I knew something was about to take a major turn. I couldn't tell if the father (Alan Ruck) was becoming possessed (remember the daughter "whispers" something into his ear). Then, finding the Bible and the red feather. Something wasn't adding up.

The show quotes the movie a fair amount ("What an excellent day for an exorcism"). Little did I know that the mother is actually Reagan.

I'm going to assume that the demon from the movie (Pazuzu) is following her and/or never really left her.

I watched the most recent episode again because I wasn't really paying to it in the beginning. The exorcism stuff was really good. The twist makes the early episodes make more sense. I thought it was odd how Geena Davis knew her daughter was possessed with little evidence.

The scene where her mom showed up was a nice throwback. Loved that shot.

I thought it was the same demon that possessed that kid in the first episode but Marcus said they're communicating with each other so maybe its different demons.

It seems like they're sort of going for "Rosemary's Baby meets The Exorcist." That's cool. Once the demon fully possesses, these things just descend into silliness. The last time that worked for me was "The Exorcist 3". Otherwise, the oppression part of the possession has been a lot more interesting. I mean, come on, once possessed, the demon hurls lame insults, the priests start sounding like Demi Moore with her "I strenuously object" when they start shouting their "The power of Christ COMPELS you," etc. I would also comment on how limited in scope the demon's power is, but this series at least took it out of the girl's bedroom.

SPOILERS

Spider walk was lame, and the original cut of the movie wisely left it out.

I literally sat there for two minutes with my mouth agape, could not believe what I just saw.

I'm really enjoying this series. Fox is killing it. Also, Geena Davis is absolutely dominating her role. Well done!

Big Bump. Had this sitting on the DVR and never got around to watching it. I don't watch a lot of shows without my wife due to time and she won't watch this.

I was a little under the weather Sunday so I decided to watch the pilot. Burned through 4 episodes that afternoon. Watched the final 6 yesterday. This show is pretty great!

On Monday I googled the show to see if it got picked up for Season 2 and had the Regan twist spoiled for me. Thankfully that reveal happened in the next episode.

Geena Davis was really good. At first I rolled my eyes when she got repossessed but they explained it fairly well later.

The biggest twist/WTF moment for me was when we found out in the attic it was the younger daughter.

I hope this get's picked up for Season 2. It's looking good so far. The creator said he's moving forward as if it's on and he's talking plots with the network. He said the family's story is done and it wouldn't be either fair or interesting to drag that out further. It looks like it will be more adventures with the 2 priests. That works for me.

My sister was sorority sisters with the main chick in this. I'm pushing for her to introduce us.

It would be pointless to just do another girl getting possessed again. Just a repeat of the first season. They should do the plot from Exorcist 3 where a serial killer gets possessed. It would be a detective drama mixed with demon possession. Worked in the movie at least.

Oh, I agree. I was just horrified to think there will be no relief for the family living with that thing.

Exorcist 3 was the better of the two Exorcist movies, IMO. (I can't bring myself to count Exorcist 2, just an awful, awful movie.)
