I like the scenery, but can do without the action movie cliches. The Dark Tower isn't The Matrix.

This film will be a letdown for many, but it really has a chance to be good. Some promo shots had him already with the horn, so it gives it an out for not matching the books page for page...

Sigh...it isn't Roland...but it does look more intriguing now. I guess it will just have to be taken as a completely different entity than the books.

No Odetta/Detta/Susanna listed anywhere in the credits - a character that is CRITICAL to books 2-7 of the series.

Is that a bad thing? I viewed the ending of the books as if Roland has been following the same path for some time. He's made it to the Dark Tower multiple times, and has to keep starting over. Each trip is essentially the same with a few changes each time through. Jake's introduction is something that may have been the same on this trip.

No not a bad thing and certainly feasible, just wasnt clear on the set up.
What do you think of Elba and MM? Its hard to nail down complex literary characters but that looks pretty good to me.

MM should be an absolute home run as Walter. Elba is phenomenal in everything else so looking forward to see him as Roland.
