Really add to the experience IMO. Gravel under boots, leather stretching, etc. Just so precise.

I have read that the end scene with the Sheriff is the entire movie.

What do you mean by this?

Maybe not as much the ending scene but when he walks through the motel room door to possibly confront Chigur. The entire movie is actually a vehicle to understanding the sheriff.

Someone might think Moss is the protagonist. He is not.

that candy wrapper making that crinkle sound on the counter when Chigurh wanted that poor bastard to flip a coin. "what business is it of yours where I'm from? Friendo."

googling a little NCFOM and came across this article.

I had no idea they wanted Jim Brolin instead of Josh Brolin. Prolly M/TV board common knowledge but frick it.

Such an intense scene the first time you watch it. That movie is a master class.

Everything is nearly perfect.

The foley is practically a supporting actor in the film. The whole scene where he's stashing cash in the air duct, from clipping the hanger to the squeak of leather against metal was really well done.

Chigurh's meticulous hotel room scene with the buckshot circling the sink, shotgun blasts pelting the truck in the getaway sequence, just on and on.

This is true. And the Coens made a great movie. But read the book for the WWII back story for Sheriff Bell. The movie would have been better with it included.

The movie almost overtly tells the viewer the Sherrif is the main character when Moss is found dead in the motel.

I skipped "All the Pretty Horses"

But save "Bood Meridian" for last...and savor every phrase.

If there is a God, it will NEVER be adapted. No actor can pull off The Judge.

Disagree. Read Blood Meridian first in case you don't get through all of them. McCarthy isn't airplane fodder.

This is gonna seem out of left field, but I think Kevin Durand could pull it off. Dude is huge, has a freaky way about him, oddly smooth skin- all attributes of The Judge. I also think he's a good actor who hasn't had a big breakout role yet.

Paul Dano as the kid would work well too.

It's a deliberate act on the part of McCarthy - hide the sheriff between these 2 somewhat larger than life figures. The title is a clue (No Country for Ole Men) - and the sheriff gets the last word.

Someone should start a thread about The Great Gatsby actually being about Nick Carraway - and that Gatsby is just the vehicle for Nick to learn things about the world - and himself (and it really is, but you have to look for it.)

This is a real thing? It's not even a question whether Carraway is the protagonist, it's just completely obvious cover to cover. Anyone confused on that has either never read the book or has a less developed intellect than the average 7th grader. The Great Gatsby isn't some great mystery or even a groundbreaking story, the prose is just beautifully written.
