I hope you are talking about a movie adaptation I've never heard of and not the novel.

The Road is one of the best novels I've ever read.

But the movie was meh.

I didn't realize there was a movie, but while I was reading the book (which I love) I thought it would be incredibly hard to make it into a movie.

Theres not a lot of dialogue. So little in fact that none of the characters have names. Plus I don't think a movie would be able to depict the scenery from the book.

I remember being very interested in The Counselor after seeing the trailer for it. Then it kinda disappeared and never showed up in a local theater. Guess it's a good thing I never saw it. . .

I thought it was much more disturbing than entertaining…just a very dark movie about the drug world. Somewhat similar to the movie Twelve in that respect. The scary thing is the elements of truth in both movies. I'm thinking i want a mile high fence on the boarder and the marines to go kick some arse. On second thought, i'd settle for carmen diaz character to be ripped apart by the Cheetahs in this movie.

I just watched The Counselor on HBO. What a giant piece of shite. Jesus, it was horrible. How can a movie with Fassbender and Javier Bardem be so bad?

Also, what the hell happened to Cameron Diaz? She is beat up.

That Ferrari did it to her.

Loved NCFOM and thought the road was alright but this movie was extremely shitty. Wouldn't recommend.

I also just watched the movie on HBO. Your post expresses my sentiments, exactly. I cannot believe how boring that movie was.

I was extremely let down by this movie last year. I did hear the extended cut makes it into a bearable movie though.

It's a bolo, and Javier Bardem gives a whole explanation of it and how its used early in the film. I mean, if we're going to complain about things, can it not be something directly addressed and comprehensively explained by one of the characters?

I think the movie is what I like to refer to as an interesting failure. First off, there's no reason for this movie to be two hours long. Just not enough happens to justify the run time. It also suffers from an extreme lack of focus. I just don't care about the characters at all. The final scene loses a lot of its power due to the scattershot nature of the storytelling.

That said, there's a lot that makes the movie worth watching, at the very least. The language is beautiful. OK, it doesn't make sense to Bardem be giving those monologues as he would never talk like that and it took me out of the picture, but the scene between the Counselor and Jefe was amazing. Actually, it was worth the price of admission. You are at the crossroads and you wish to make a choice, but you already make your choice, and that is why you are at this crossroads. All that is left is acceptance. To twist the knife further by offering a trade, and then pulling it back was just brutal.

And I thought Diaz was excellent. She is hunter, and everyone else is her prey. It is further irony that she converts cash to diamonds while the Counselor tries to make this deal to buy a diamond he cannot afford.

In fact, she is a fascinating character throughout. Her early admission to Bardem that he reminds her of a dead man is just coldly awful in retrospect. she sets in motion pretty much every event in the film, all for her own personal amusement. As they point out, they have more money and stuff than they could ever want. They kill for fun. And that's what Diaz engages in: fun. This is the thrill of the hunt, much like her beloved cats.

Which is why the final line is so perfect: "I'm famished." She's just finished the hunt, and it's time to begin again. Maybe it's not all fun, but partly a biological imperative.

The movie is too disjointed and poorly paced to be considered great, but I did think it was a fascinating movie. It was so close to being great but like most Ridley Scott movies, it failed in the editing bay.

I need one of these things.... STAT!!!

And Cameron Diaz was FINE as frogs hair. IWDHI, again and again and again (and hope she does not kill me after).

One of Cameron's few good performances.

I too thought it was an enjoyable movie. Not exactly sure how Cameron's character pulled it all off though.

The scene of her and the sports car paired with Javier Bardem's explanation was worth the price of admission

Everyone here says it's a shitty movie. Don't make me watch it to hear Javier Bardem explain in it. Please just answer the f'ing question that you quoted to begin your post.
