Sad to say, but MTV will probably get a lift from Diem/Knight both passing away.
How will that work though? Do they care show they competing at first? I know Diem basically had to quit and Knight was never a great competitor, so I guess it doesn't matter.
Have to think The Challenge is on the verge of cancellation if all these people shot MTV down. You know it's starting to go to shite when MTV has to invite people from another show, and that show isn't even Jersey Shore or Teen Mom or anything decent
Maybe they'll get their shite together and stop using the same format and come up with something different to attract the old guard

Yeah I watched the special last night. Pretty sad. Surprised Derrick wasn't a part of it. And it's clear that Wes and Evan are no longer on the juice.

That's what was great about a format like last season was that it was open to virtually anyone. You didn't need a rival or an ex. Biggest problem with getting people to come back is that conditions they make them live in are awful.

I don't think there's any format change that will do this. People grow up, get married, get real jobs and they don't want to do it anymore. There's not really much they can do.
EtA: On a related note The Mark Long said he was unretiring on a Grantland podcast a month ago so that's at least one very old guard member back.
