Everything else was a complete lie in that movie. So glad that the Academy didn't fall for this movie's bullshite. 21 Years a Slave is an actual great film,
Last 9 years of that one are bullshite too.

Movie had nothing to do with bashing white people.
Oh yeah, just making up the part where the white farm owner rapes his mother and kills his father isn't saying "frick Whitey". Seems like a pretty outrageous and ridiculous thing to add to a backstory, when that didn't happen at all. Not to mention how subtle it was.

You sir, are ignorant.
it pretended to be historically accurate and embellished and outright lied about certain figures and events, all in an attempt to make the audience sympathetic to the protagonist and have disdain for the antagonists. while that is standard story writing 101, its disingenuous to do so under the guise of a true story.
if you would like to see a movie that stays true to the actual events and characters, i would suggest 12 years a slave. otherwise, id suggest watching django unchained - its as accurate as the butler and a hell of a lot more entertaining.
while we are at it, you calling someone ignorant after that OP is a lot more entertaining than the butler as well.

Hanoi Jane as Nancy Reagan means I will never watch this movie.

after I saw that scene I had to look up the true story to see if that really happened to him because I smell the bullsh*t.
I mean I understand it was the 1920's or whatever, but it wasn't Civil War time. Those were free men working on a farm, not owned slaves in fear of lashings from the Master...I'm sure if there are a bunch of large black men working outside together and 1 little white man rapes one of their women and shoots one of them in the head in front of everyone, they all would have stomped his freaking guts out, raped and murdered his raggedy old mother, and burned his house to the ground
I would have actually liked to have seen that version of this movie.

Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan and just kind of throwing it out there that Reagan was a full on racist without any factual evidence was really great movie making. Did Lee do his research and editing at the Michael Moore School of Authenticity? I was really hoping to like this film and I am a sucker for a good civil rights movie but this thing was horribly political and one sided. FWIW I am not a Republican, I'm just not stupid enough to blindly follow either party since they are usually both full of shite.

Disappointed they bitched out and showed it in one of the montages.
