I have TBL on in the background while I play on the iPad at least a few times a month. One of the most quotable movies of all time.

Excusem Me, Ma'am! The supreme court has roundly rejected prior restraint!

Probably one of top 5 favorite movies.
How can you not laugh at everything that comes out of Walters mouth?

only good for one the one watch.
Nope. This movie gets better with every viewing. Lots of people don't appreciate it the first time around. The the second time you pick up on some of the subtle nuances. And then after the third time you start to really realize just how great it is.

Easily my favorite character in the movie.....I thought he was excellent in that role.

Seriously....that scene is funny to you? Are you 15?
All bullshite aside...like I said, I don't fault anyone that enjoyed this movie....I just don't find it that entertaining. Like it was suggested, maybe another watch or tow would help me appreciate it more...the only problem is I have zero desire to sit through it again. I don't need to like a movie that bad.

quote:I remember the first time I saw TBL. It was just like the first time I saw Anchorman. I was meh'd to death. Same with Step Brothers and The Other Guys. But it takes more than once, more than twice...you just fall into how awesome it is.
I guess man. I came close to turning off about a dozen times but I made up my mind to give a shot and watch it all the way through. I swear had I turned it off, I wouldn't have missed anything....just an incredibly average film. The whole "shut the frick up Donny".....white russian "caucasian" schtick...."the dude"....just lame. Even the Jesus character....when he appeared I'm like cool, finally something funny and/or entertaining......I was wrong.
You think the carpetpissers did this?

This is probably more your speed.

All I can say is that you're missing out. Regardless, The Dude abides.
Did you at least pick up on the philosophical undertones of the movie summarized by the quote above? Really, it's my favorite part of the movie. Dudeism. The religion of the dude. It's a real thing. Look it up.

Yes that scene made me laugh. It's also not even in the same straatosphere as the top/funniest scenes in the movie.
If you think this comedy was made for 15 year olds, I don't even....
WS: frickin Nazis, Dude?
Dude: They said they were nihilists, they believe in nothing.
WS: Jesus, Dude. Say what you want about the tenants of National Socialism, Dude. But at least it's an ethos.
Walter fricking defends the Nazis.

Absolutely. It's not that I don't see what the movie is trying to do...it's that I just didn't find it entertaining....or funny. I'm sure it's just me.

It's hilarious how the very thought of Nihilism just blows Walter's mind.

No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me.

Everyone has their opinions, that's cool. I guess maybe let it sink in that you can't form an opinion on one viewing. Inception? Sure. But not something like TBL.
