I think the movie fails without the squid so I am not a huge fan but that is a discussion for another thread.

The opening sequence is great as is the origin of Dr. Manhattan.

That said, on the whole the comic book is still better with comic book-within-a-comic book thing and the other details the movie couldn't fit in.

It's in the Director's cut

Yup, it was done to perfection.

Also the ending was better than the comic.

I loved this movie. I thought the soundtrack was excellent throughout. Sound of Silence during the funeral scene seemed a perfect choice.

The movie flows much better. I don't think that I've watched the original again since the director's cut came out.

Intro and Ozy kicking owl and rorsach's asses. Then nailing Silk with a kick and telling white knight owl "Dan, your school yard heroic is redundant, what have the achieve?"

Wow, what a character!

This movie was such an unusual comic book super hero movie that that is what made it so good. Just enjoyed it from beginning to the end. Rorschach dumping hot grease on that inmate still makes me cringe. lol And the weird, strange Ozymandias taking on Rorschach and Nite Owl and handling their asses rather easily as mentioned was gripping entertainment as well as the ending. Just a good, solid movie.

If you like the movie and haven't read the graphic novel, I would highly recommend it. It isn't a long read at all, but it does a really great job highlighting the philsophical underpinnings of the various characters.

I always liked Rorschach refusing to compromise at the very end when faced by Manhattan.
