aliens teach a human their language, that alters how she perceives time

aliens will need help from humans in 3,000 years

aliens needed to teach a human this language , so they will be of use to them, in 3,000 years

Arrival was the best film of last year. In every way. It was as human as Moonlight while tackling more complex issues, having a better score, having better direction, better cinematography, and a better overall story. It is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. It is structured so as to mirror the discovery and understanding of the alien language, which is a brilliant stroke by Villeneuve.

I am eagerly awaiting his take on Blade Runner.

Spoiler alert, obviously.

Taking it a step further, by learning said language and changing her perception of time, you realize that everything you think happened in the past, is actually her future.

The mind blowing thing is that despite all the pain she's already felt in just remembering events that haven't happened yet, she still goes through with those things for the greater good.

Funny you posted this. I actually watched this for the second time last night. I think it's an incredible movie.

I'm almost through every film from last year I wanted to see, and I'm gonna write a re-litgating the Oscars thread, but Arrival is really the centerpiece. It's the kind of film that should have cleaned u at the Oscars, as it sort of justifies the movie industry in a way the other films didn't. It was a huge event movie.

Basically she chose to have her child, knowing that she would get cancer and die. Jeremy Renner's character becomes her husband. When he finds out that Amy Adams knew all along that her daughter would die, yet did it anyway, he leaves. All of the memory flashes were flash forward.

yeah, it was fantastic. Best sci fi movie in years, maybe since inception. Although Ex-Machina was pretty fantastic.

Most of his movies are really good. Very different though.

Sicario and Prisoners were fantastic. Enemy was not decipherable for me, although I watched it on a plane. Jake did a great job though.

It was an okay One-Act.

I thought Max Fischer made more exciting plays though...
