Also too...at least with being captured....your family doesn't think you are just missing and go through that.

Granted...having a child who is considered an American traitor has to be stressful in itself...but at least they knew you were alive and you had the opportunity to explain your situation.

i don't think it would take much convincing for me to explain the whole "i finally got a girlfriend!" angle

Isn't treason punishable by death?

i don't know if they could get you on TREASON if you honestly didn't know and as soon as you did, you turned yourself in

you'd be violating all sorts of laws though and could go to jail. that's why you'd have to negotiate

that's why i'd hope like hell i could lasso in the handler. cooperation would be a major help

if she was able to turn in Philip/Clark, then she probably would have only gotten jail time.

i'd imagine there is a legit chance you'd just be on some secret probation. it's not like the FBI would want to publicly admit it was penetrated by the KGB, esp in the 80s while Reagan was making America great again. the FBI wouldn't have to put the spies on trial but the American? this was pre-911 so they would have to

I was always iffy on what Clark told Martha he was doing...what agency did she think he was with?

I zoned out on the Martha story early on.

NSA

i think his story was basically that they were monitoring the FBI for possible leaks/moles

I think she originally thought he was in some internal affairs thing.

I don't think she realized he was really KGB until after he killed that guy(IIRC)she worked with.

she was a new addition to the embassy

she's working on something that is super secret, above the residentura

it's hinted that it's the biological weapons at the center of this season

Are they trying to set her up as a new love interest for Oleg as well?

And I'm a member of a few meetup.com groups, just looked on the site and there is a new one looking for former USSR peeps in Scottsdale/Phoenix in their 20s, 30s, 40s to get together and hang out.

I immediately think of this show the moment I saw it
That and just how many Russian mafia ties that meetup would have.

Just watched last weeks episode finally. What a great show. It is up there with breaking bad for me.

There is something about Keri Russell that is so hot to me. She's quiet sexy

Very cool. Thanks for posting that

I didn't know the writer of The Americans had CIA training. Very interesting to read the real life story that inspired the series.
