It leaves everything open for them to hit the ground running next season but a little slow for a season finale.

that's how season 2 ended, also. the reveal on who killed the other family was meh and then they ramped it up with the second generation thing

same thing here. phillip is losing it. i presume the "evil empire" speech is going to rev elizabeth back up doe

stan also got authority to basically go all black ops, but who knows if he has motivation to do it since nina isn't an option

so it was an epic meta episode but not that amazing or exciting on its own

I get the feeling that is not what Nina wanted from that little confession. Too bad she is working with a brain now that has left his sexual self behind.

well she already decided to play a new angle. i think earlier in the season when he said he stopped fricking the girls they gave him, she had to change gears. now she's doing the whole "us v. them" angle to see if he'll admit to dragging arse (which he apparently is not). i guess they have to keep her alive as a carrot for stan, plot-wise

Pastor Tim is dead. Paige will learn fast the consequences of her betrayal. The Russians tap those phones. He will be dead in the first episode of Season 4. Phillip is going to bang Stans ex wife. Est is all about picking up horny chicks.

Stan basically has a license to kill now. I thought the season ended well with the nice touch of a framed suicide by Phillip. Only thing is Martha still lives.

Ha. I thought it was a tremendous episode, especially the last few minutes with the combo of Philips speech on top of what Paige is going through. It's perfect for a show that's about relationships and inner conflict. The spying is really just a vehicle for it all.

Pastor Tim isn't long for this world. Paige is about to get an adult lesson in consequences of what happens when you tell secrets to make yourself feel better. Loved the contrast with what Paige did compared to what Philip didn't do with Mrs Beeman even though it was obvious he wanted to do it.

Good recap. I thought the episode dragged a little too much though. I can't believe they just moved past the reveal to Martha last week, we should've heard something about what he said or seen her at least. Just kinda weird. Phones are probably tapped so the pastor is a goner. Paige is definitely going to learn an important lesson. Philip is ready to lose it and his wife isn't there for him. Stan is going to be really annoying now with some power

Sucks the season is already over.

Other than Martha's absence (yes, she was mentioned, but no face time), it was a very good episode. Of particular note was Elizabeth's seeming uncertainty of purpose in West Germany after the visit w/ her mother and her steely glare at Reagan as he gave his "Evil Empire" speech.

To me this finale was like the season as a whole - no great captivating plot line but some very intense/uncomfortable scenes. Philip got put through the wringer this season and it's showing.

I'll give you the last 5 minutes of the finale.
Great acting, as usual, yes.
But, the finale as a whole? Nothing happened until the end, and it was just Paige on the phone crying to Pastor Tim.

That was basically it.

Weird choice to not have any scenes with Martha, especially with the fallout from Philip's reveal.

I would bet against that. Have you been paying attention all season? Phillip is racked with guilt over killings. Elizabeth the Ice Queen broke down over that old lady. I thought for sure Martha was dead when Phil took off his wig.Oh and the Centre just sent orders to the Rezident that no unathorized assignations would take place. Paige would FREAK OUT in Pastor Tim wound up dead and we already saw her looking at Mr Beamon, the FBI counter intelligence agent that lives across the street. Too obvious to take out Pastor Tim.

That would have nothing to do with PT. I suspect there are standing orders for them to take all necessary measures to protect their cover.

And killing the Pastor their daughter told their identity to would not exactly be low profile. They'd have to kill his wife as well and hold Paige captive to keep her from telling anyone else, which prolly even clueless Henry might notice not to mention the schools. They won't know he knows at first, May be revealed later.

They need to kill Paige and PT. Unless of course if PT is Russian.

Anyone else kind of tired of the whole Paige story line? Its dominated most of the season and isn't as interesting a plot line as some others. I would almost rather the kids be background characters and have more focus on the adults. Watching Paige go to church meetings and prayer sessions isn't too exciting. I know it is more realistic to show the kids and how the parents have to interact with them to keep their secret, but damn they take away from the action.

No, it's what the show is about.

If the show was simply about them doing missions, or more "action" as you want, over and over again it would have gotten old back in season 1.

The Centre's ace in the hole? On the one hand, I can see it since the Centre has had an eye on page "somehow" to be able to gauge whether she was "ready" (that information would not have come from P & E). On the other hand, it would be a might convenient contrivance to not short-circuit the show.

Of course, if this is not the case, PT will put it together and go from Russians/lies to "Russian spies." Remember, Philip went and menaced him about Paige in Season 2 and he knows at least he is hostile to religion. Now...what he does with this information/knowledge is another matter altogether (because considering his political leanings [very left] he may not necessarily be hostile to P & E's goals, as he believes he may understand them).

I am wondering if they might use this as a mechanism to get PT and a church group to the USSR (a la Samantha Smith). The timing would be about right.
