Yes the acting is pretty terrible and what the hell with no showing of the Alamo, you've got Bowie and Crocket and they don't even show them.

I think the director must have been in over his head, and the casting director must have been clueless. Did they audition any of these people and their shitty accents?

Worth watching yes, worth wasting long hours on poor acting maybe.

Historically incorrect time and time again.

The Accents as posted above are not correct, remember Texas fighters are a cross section of the South of the 1830's, most fighters had lived in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee etc. Some are from France, Britain, etc. Thne you have the Mexicans, Spanish factions on the Texas side.

The Alamo has 1 of the companies from Louisiana, the other is elsewhere at the time, it had been at the Alamo in early Feb. This is why Bowie has the longest faction at the Alamo (he commands the volunteers). Davy comes to the Alamo alone and rides out 3-4 nights (he was sent out on a scout and to get troops there) before the fall and comes back in if I remember correct 2 nights before the Alamo falls with the last men to enter the ill faded mission. Total killed defending the Alamo is close to 235 not the 185 you hear, also there are names on the monument outside the Alamo who were not there that day.

I think I read that this same director did The Killing Fields. I don't understand how someone can make a movie as good as that and also direct the steaming pile of crap that is Texas Rising. So bad.

Roland Joffe had a good run in the 80's but it's been a while since he directed anything of note.
