"Starry Eyes" was the creepiest movie I've seen since "The Strangers". It was dark as hell, and the last 15 minutes will really frick you up for a couple days.

Yeah, I basically feel the complete opposite of this.

I thought it was okay, but not very good. It didn't make much sense, forst of all, but then the execution was fairly poor in some spots. I thought the acting was pretty shitty, although the main girl was okay. And the whole "starry eyes" thing didn't make much sense to me either...I couldn't tell if it was just straight up syfy, or if there was supposed to be some sort of connection of what she went through to the other starlets in the pictures on her wall. Not to mention that the police will have a pretty easy time of fuiguring out who killed all of those kids.

I dunno, it was just weird. And I don't mind weird, and normally dig movies like that. Maybe I went in with different expectations and that fricked up my view a little. All in all, not a bad movie, just not particularly good either.

I have. It wasn't bad. The new movie that just came out called Unfriended kind of reminds me of it.

What a bizarre movie. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but I thought it was very original. I liked it.

I actually liked the ending, but the 3rd act is definitely the weakest part of the film, though it's relative, still good.

Overall, it's just one of those films for me that I'll always hold in special regard. I love genre bending films. Just like Benson's first film, Resolution. Fantastic movie as well

I have seen Resolution. I remember it being good and strange. I need to watch it again, though. I hope that guy makes more movies.

ETA: On that note, he's actually making a movie called "Beasts". It's about Aleister Crowley. That should be interesting.

Thanks for this suggestion. I watched it last night and enjoyed it. A little odd, and I agree about the third act, but it was a very imaginative movie.

I am hoping Honeymoon is better.

It was. Super weird ending, but I liked the sort of slow build up of tenseness and creepiness. That was cool. I'd have liked to get a little more out of the ending, because it ended pretty abruptly, but I didn't mind it too much.

All in all, solid movie. And Rose Leslie is pretty fine.

I did crack up at his "Hockey...that's the one with the ice skates, right?" joke to old boy, but then kinda realized that he may not have completely been joking.

I did feel bad for him though.

I loved Honeymoon. I loved the how the husband felt lost like he didn't know what the frick to do. He had this concern that his wife was hiding something and it kept you guessing till the end right there with him. I love watching movies like that completely blind without watching a trailer or anything.

Check out The Canal if you haven't. That one is pretty good, too.

Just watched The Houses October Built.

Meh. I thought it was really good until the last ten minutes or so, and then it sort of fell apart. I'm still not exactly sure what happened....

....spoilers.....

I assume they all died. They could've definitely fleshed out the ending a lot better and made things more clear. I liked the interviews throughout the movie, and felt like they could've been actual, real interviews from real people. And I get that they talked about how there are basically borderline sociopaths who work in haunted houses. But that still doesn't explain the ending at all. What's the whole point of giving them cameras to film their own fates if there is no over-arching "real life" setting to display the footage?

What I mean is there's no reason we're watching this footage. In Blair Witch Project, it's presented as actual footage found IRL. This movie just sort of basically says "this is footage shot by these people, and also 'allegedly' by the people who work for Blue Skeleton." That's it. And there were also a lot of things randomly thrown into it that either didn't make sense or had no business being there as they didn't really relate to the plot at all (like the clowns from the first place stalking them the whole time, then being harassed by the clowns and filmed, the black dude living in the woods, the little girl that kept popping up everywhere, etc.). And I swear the only reason Baton Rouge was in the movie was to make people think that it's filled with hillbilly rapists.

That zombie paintball shootout hayride thing was fricking awesome though. That looked fun as hell.

I thought I read that some of the haunted houses were real. I don't know. They definitely looked real at times. That was cool to see. I didn't really find much else interesting in the movie. Worth a watch IMO for the haunted houses alone.

Yeah it was just okay. I thought it was pretty cool until the end though. Had they ended it better I think it would've been a really good movie.

I think I may try that Town that Dreaded Sundown one in a little while.

I thought it was pretty good. I read up on the original movie a little before I watched it. It has some interesting history.

Yeah, I basically feel the complete opposite of this.

I think the horror film genre is very difficult to calibrate on this board.

One man´s masterpiece is invariably another´s garbaggio, every damned time.

I´ve watched recommendations and have been wondering WTF, and I´ve seen some watch mine and report back with meh or worse.
