Very rarely would I call a show perfect, but this show is absolutely perfect.

I thought the pacing was a bit slow in some parts and some of the subplots needed work. Which is to be expected, this was, after all, a major step up for the unheralded Duffer Brothers (who have just put themselves on the list for a lot of jobs in Hollywood I would imagine).

That having been said this was an amazing series. Just a ton of style and atmosphere along with one of the best casts I've seen in quite some time. Even the child actors hit it out of the park and Milli Bobby Brown crushed her performance even though she only had a handful of lines each episode.

My only real regret about the show is that we will have to wait a while before the next season is up. This is the surprise TV hit of the summer, nobody saw this thing coming or had any idea it would be this good. I have to tip my hat to the people behind it.

Next season prediction,
The Chief works with the Xfiles division of a private or government agency.

Very well done show. I enjoyed the pacing, music, kid actors were really good.

I don't think this is going to happen.

1) That was not his daughter's teddy bear, it was Will's. He had it in his little camp. He just happened to have the same one his daughter had. That's how I took it.

2) His daughter died and we have not seen anything that indicates people go to the Upside Down after they die. They are taken there alive and killed there by the monster.

This is one of the most satisfying shows I have seen in a long time.

I actually hope there isn't a 2nd season...because these 8 episodes were perfect in every way and more is not necessarily better.

Agreed. I'm not "shite on every sequel/reboot" guy but this show really doesn't need one. Let it be.

This is precisely why I hoped it would be a new story so they could leave this one be BUT if they can pull off another amazing season then I am all for it. The element of surprise is gone now so I think it will be tough.

The second season is called

"what about barb?"

So I think will is no longer human and is setting lose this plague on the town which will lead to a global takeover of these things. I like that the ending isn't holding your hand. I need to think about this one

It's easy to see the influences...the thing, aliens, ET (there are so many subtle nods along with the more obvious ones), x men comics (the astral plain or alternate dimension that night crawler passes through between two points), the legend of Zelda, this shite was so full of visual references both obvious and subtle it was awesome

But long story short this was ET meets aliens meets that Stephen King novel (not written in the 80s)

Plausible because Will didn't freak out after coughing it up, and sat down to Christmas dinner as if nothing happened.

Loved the show. I was wondering why the monster needed to feed from this world. It didn't need to before. Why was will spared and not Barbara? Minor gripe but if a baseball bat can hurt a monster, 20+ mp5s will do more damage.

I see that EL is probably in the upside down. Hop was putting food in the box that probably was represented in the upside down. I think will may see EL and try to save her next season.

I just don't think he wanted to scare them.

It's been a while since I've seen ET, but didn't Elliot put makeup, a pink dress and a blond wig on him?

Just like Mike did to Eleven.

it's definitely a wink nod, I like how they flipped the van in the air when the setup was for the iconic bike flying scene, clever

The first one I caught was when will was running to their outdoor tool shed or garage, the lighting, everything is a nod to ET when ET is in the dog house

And the opening scenes of both movies with kids playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Didn't even think about that

It's no secret that whoever made this fricking loved ET. Don't blame them, it's a great film

Pacing sucks, but it's so fricking good and oozes style. It's a love letter to the 80s

It's not awesome but I came away after watching it that's it better than I expected because I felt like I was watching an 80s show. They didn't just give lip service, they went in whole hog. The style was more than an homage, I felt like I was was watching an 80s TV horror.

Not just references but filming style. I was impressed.

Story was good but not great. A little too convoluted.

But really good.

It would have been more 80s if the supernatural was more government controlled imo. The government seemed lost.

But it was cool. I like that they did this. Nice to see Ryder again.

The kids walking on the train tracks also seemed like a nod to "Stand By Me"

I caught a lot of nostalgic references, but must have totally missed the Legend of Zelda reference...???
