I would suggest God's of the arena first because you'll know more about the characters in season 1.

Me and my buddies treated Spartacus like big football games. The show gives you a helluva adrenaline rush on some of those episodes.

And I'm jealous too. The way people go on about Breaking Bad is how I feel about Spartacus, esp the first two seasons. Never quite got used to the replacement.

If I remember correctly, I think the prequel series starts with spoiler scenes from the end of the first season. But it's been a while. Definitely start with Blood and Sand. He was my favorite Spartacus.

Skip season 2. It has nothing to do with the story and it is TERRIBLE! The rest of the series is great though!

So, when exactly did the Gods spread your cheeks and ram cock in fricking arse?
Some characters introduced in the prequel season are pretty important in the later seasons.

Assuming there are no spoilers in the prequel and I can't confirm this for sure, definitely watch the prequels. God, I miss this show so badly. I wish they would a Julius Caesar spinoff with Crassus involved. The actors playing them were as awesome as it gets and very well cast.
I also loved how they talked and basically mixed broken Latin with broken English. This show was very unique in that regard alone. It's complex for us talk like today but it's easy enough to understand.
It's no GOT but Spartacus is still pretty damn good.

I loved the series. Ive watched it at least 3-4 times.
