The "just now watching GofG" got me thinking that it's been a pretty solid movie year. normally i'm pretty disappointed with the summer blockbusters save a few, but i thought they killed it this year with a lot of decent sequels, and good new ones

My movie list this year:

Exceptional:
Lego Movie
Interstellar
GotG
Winter Soldier

Great:
Gone Girl
How to train your Dragon2
Edge of Tomorrow
XMen: DoFP
Big Hero 6

Good:
John Wick
22 Jump Street
Mr. Peabody and Sherman
DotPoA
Maze Runner
Noah
...
...

Meh:
Godzilla
Transformers
TMNT
Amazing Spider Man 2
Malefecient

.....
.....
.....
.....
.....
.....

I hate the crap my family makes me watch:
Dolphin Tale 2
Divergent
Planes 2

It was a great year IMO.

Lego Movie was that good? Didn't see that.
I liked Big Hero.
I saw almost a movie every week in theaters since May so I have seen a good bit of them.

I think my favorites were GotG and Edge of Tomorrow. It actually upsets me that Edge didn't do better, it was one of the better Sci Fi films. I know I will rewatch it more than Intersteller.
Honestly Intersteller was good, but I don't need to see it again.

The last movie I saw was Birdman at the Prytania Saturday, it was strange, but I liked the acting.

All in all it was a very solid movie year

I'd probably move divergent into the Meh category.

I expect Hobbit 3 to be in the great. And catching fire will probably land in the Good.

Dumb and Dumber- Meh

I don't know if they just marketed it poorly or people just have cruise fatigue, but i agree. it was a really good movie that people just didn't go see.

i thought so. Oscar will probably go to HtTyD2, but Lego movie was the most entertaining cartoon i've ever seen as an adult.

damn, I made a point not to see it.
I've seen almost every other kids movie that came out though. I did like Big Hero Six, even if it took place in a world were the US lost ww2 to Japan.
(I think..lol)

I thought Gone Girl was exceptional. I also was not a fan at all of How to Train Your Dragon 2. The theme was basically that it's okay to be an absent parent in the name of saving animals.

It was horrible. And she wasn't even likable. Like her apology wasn't even really sincere. Seriously just a terrible movie, and I loved the first one.

A big improvement from 2013. Tons of great surprises.

That would be a travesty - Lego Movie was a much better movie. Frankly, I was disappointed in HTTYD2.

Interstellar was a bit of a letdown...but I have enjoyed 2014.

Plus I still have Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Nightcrawler and Whiplash on my must see list. So it could get even better.

Noah was a weird between good and meh. i had it a meh and then jumped it up because i did like it at the end of the day and am glad i saw it. 22 jump street was borderline great, but when compared to the others it was just a parodied sequel of itself, poking fun at itself for being a sequel.... all excellently done.

meh means, i don't necessarily regret wasting the money on it, but i'm not better off for having seen it.

Should be in the exceptional category. Real Oscar Gold material.
