I'd also like to take this moment to say that I really miss westerns. What a great genre, and quintessentially American. Instead of getting rid of superheroes, how about we bring back westerns?

The said thing is that Westerns will probably never be a dominant genre again, however, because of that, the ones that are made are actually products of intense care and interest.
Meek's Cutoff, Slow West, Proposition, Robert Ford, True Grit, Django, etc.
Revanant and Hateful Eight both look awesome too. That's not a bad output.

I quit going to see them about 2 years ago and will not bother with another one.
People who enjoy them- continue to do so, but I cannot stand them and am done with these pulp CG poorly acted megabudget films.

If there's a market, they will continue to be made. With that said, there's great entertainment out there. For me, I've been watching more of the classics lately. There's a wealth of great older movies that I haven't seen.

Exactly. I´m surely much older than you, yet know I´ve still yet to properly scratch the surface.
