Would be awesome if it's followed through.

Spiderman is boring. They can keep him.

This is basically just them admitting they don't know what they're doing and that they make shitty movies so they want to ride the MCU wave of cash.

Right. They want Marvel to make the movie, but Sony wants the money.

They will ruin it if the put Andrew Garfield in there. It will need a recast to make it work

i doubt disney makes this type of deal. look how they dealt with Fox over fantastic four. disney holds all the cards over sony.

I would not. as i've never been a big fan of the comics, my decision is solely based on the films. I find the thor films more enjoyable than the spiderman films.

Spider Man's recent box office shows they need the Marvel universe to continue to make bank at the box office.

Marvel does need Spidey to continue on their path

but thats kind of my point. basically Marvel has done a MUCH better job than sony at the films. so imagine if Marvel made a Spider-Man movie. for me personally, i think Spider-Man is a much better character with more potential. we just havent gotten it out of sony.

I wonder why they want someone else to take it over.

I don't really like Spiderman all that much as a character. So I'm never really going to clamor for him to be in the MCU.

Now, if you could get Deadpool, Venom, Red Hulk, Punisher, and Elektra together like the Thunderbolts series from the last couple years, I'd be on board for that.

I think I'd be interested in a Flash Thompson Venom solo movie also.

That would be like having 3 hulks in a decade. Impossible.

The first two Sam Rami-Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies were really, really good. The third one sucked, it was overstuffed like a lot of those movies are.

I have zero desire to see the two Amazing Spider-Man movies. I liked Andrew Garfield in the other stuff I've seen him in, but it just made no sense to me to retell the origin of Spider-Man so soon after the Rami movies.

It just seems like Sony doesn't understand the character. He's not a dark guy, he's kind of a goofy nerdy guy who is trying to juggle being a super hero with looking after his girlfriend, being a college student, being broke and having an a-hole boss.

Everyone except Marvel wants to get dark and gritty with comic book characters because of the Christopher Nolan Batman movies. That approach just doesn't work for Spider-Man or Superman.

Garfield is fine as Spidey. Everyone else around him though...not so much.

I disagree. Thor opens up much more of the actual Marvel universe than spiderman. There's a lot more things that can be done with Thor on a whole host of different worlds and more powerful villains. Thor opens up a more interesting sci fi world imo. Spidey is sort of stuck on earth.

(I'm not a comic storyline expert. This is just my general feel.)
