The book was published in '88 so it was written about the early '80s or so. Not sure that was so unusual. At least its easy to overlook.

quote:

Who leaves a notorious serial killer in a courthouse with 2 guards?

The point was that the Senator insisted on moving him against the wishes of LE. They also had more guards than just the two in the room w/ him. It was a makeshift cell thrown together quickly.

A rookie into this type of investigation?

She was only brought in because they knew Lechter had refused to talk to any experienced agents. It was a desperate ploy that actually worked.

quote:

Going into houses with strange guys and not calling back up?

She was away from her unit, and they had already shown how LE disregarded the young female rookie. Also, it was just a wild hunch. I doubt she had any idea she had stumbled on Wild Bill.

I'm as cynical as any movie watcher, but you take the cake. Its a classic.

the production value seems pretty low, it seems almost like some made for TV movie.

That's that era.

Silence and The Fugitive are very similar in production values and look and feel...and it came out 2 years later.

Doesn't mean The Fugitive is unwatchable. Contrary, it is very much like Silence, immensely rewatchable.

Early 90's films have a certain look to them. They aren't 80's films nor post-Pulp Fiction films.

Just rewatched Robin Hood Prince of Theives from the same year as Silence, cheesy TV look, cheesy dialogue, cheesy feel...still a fun movie.

Silence
Robin Hood
Backdraft
Thelma and Louise
Sleeping with the Enemy
Point Break
Cape Fear

They all look the same. A transition from 80's to late 90's.

Should have stopped reading here. Your opinion isn't wrong, but it's stupid and you should feel bad.

It's certainly a movie in which a cellphone would completely change the story.

And a Sherman tank dropped into the middle of Tombstone would've changed that film. What's your point?
