Just hours after reporting that Sony Pictures and Marvel have narrowed down their choices to play the new Spider-Man, The Wrap has revealed which actors are in contention. The short list includes Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothée Chalamet and Liam James. Sony is expected to issue testing offers to several young actors next week, with a decision expected to come within the next two to three weeks, although it may take longer for the deal to become finalized.

My favorite for the role is Timothee Chalamet.

How about we not retell the origin story for the third time and have spidey be in his mid twenties?

Gets some black cat action.

They're not retelling the origin story. Spiderman currently exists in the MCU.

Think he would be a good one. Could be perfect for college level Peter Parker and we won't have to see a 3rd Uncle Ben die. No idea why they would do another origin story.

Are the rumors of a Spider Man post credit scene true in the Ultron movie? I heard that last week.

It was fake. He will appear in Civil War, though. He will already be established as a superhero.

Not Asa Butterfield. I'll never be able to get passed how shitty Ender's Game was.

They say they're not going to retell the origin story (but I bet we get a flashback of it, a la every Batman movie) and he will be a high school student.

John Romita Jr's Peter Parker will always be the man under the mask for me.

Unfortunately though, only Donny Osmond could play him:

I thought they already said that he was going to be in high school (like 15 or something). Although I might've hallucinate that.

Did you see the kids they're considering? You didn't hallucinate anything.
