Shameless Season 5 Thread

Watched the first episode Friday. Hope for a great season.

I'll catch up with it tomorrow (don't have Showtime)

Is Liam the same kid as before? He looks 2 years older this season.

That was a lot of gay sex in one episode.

Why bring Jimmy/Steve back for a cliffhanger if you're not gonna open the season with an explanation? Still a good episode. Lots of titties.

i tried to get interested last night but the show is boring and stale now.

lip's problems are over blown and they're REALLY forcing conflict for him (not as bad as last year. college isn't hard for normal people. he's a super genius. it would be completely cake for him)

oh wait frank is drinking? he's trying to think of creative ways to drink? NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE

from what the season preview showed, apparently fiona is a borderline psychopath and they're just re-doing last season's story but with a slightly less dramatic set of results from her new psychopathy

But really, strange world where you can make eye contact with someone and then get a good double jerk in the parking lot with his baby brothers next to him. Now we know what's really going on when we see gay people babysitting.

A lot of over the top-ness in this episode. And thats saying a lot considering this show is meant to be over the top.

I was saying this to my wife last night, "what's this dudes problem, he's got a pretty cute horny chick with BANK, but he whines about not having money?"

I have watched every season, but yes, last night was seeming very familiar. Hopefully there's some good writing still and I'll keep watching since the show was funny in the past.

a big problem is that to make lip/fiona likeable and interesting early on, they have to give the characters some value. both are intelligent, hard-working, and on top of shite. the only way to keep them ghetto (because this show refuses to get outside of a celebration of being poor), the writers have to keep creating crazy scenarios to keep them down

last season they literally turned fiona into a crazy person (while slyly turning ian into an actual crazy person). last season turned a genius that was capable of getting 1500+ on the SAT into a struggling college student who apparently became unable to read.

so what appears to be the conflict this season? fiona doing exactly what she did last season and lip having the exact same existential conflcits taht he had ALL OF SEASONS 1 AND 2 (But with a less hot gf. karen jackson is one of the hottest chicks EVAR)

First episode was good, but it kind of felt like it would have fit just as well at the end of the last season.

Regardless, very happy this is back on.

They are the 2 most redeeming people on the show. It honestly seems like they are the only two people with at least some semblance of a conscience and/or an ability to possibly succeed.

I pretty much hate everyone else and enjoy watching them fail. I want Kev and V to win
