Still not happy about the casting choice for Roland. Roland is not black and it's an integral part of the story that he is white.

To me, the color of the gunslinger doesn't matter. What I care about is how fast he can draw... and that he takes care of ka-tet.

Clearly a case of casting having no clue about the actual content of the story.
I like Elba, but he isn't Roland and casting him forces them to change a major part of another character. This is a case where race is actually important.

pretty sure they know about the actual content of the story ... somebody wanted a black guy in there for diversity since 'black actors matter' ... simple as that ...

This. And it seems like this isn't the same trip to the tower that Roland took in the books. Makes it easier to get rid of the racial aspect and tell a new story.

The people bringing up the concerns about the racial tensions and their fear of how that will turn out are at least somewhat legitimate. But too with this whole PC agenda bullshite.
Tell me, did you even blink an eye at the cast list for Exodus: gods and Kings? Well neither did I. And when Elba was cast as the gunslinger, my eyes stil refrained from any blinking.

I don't mind Roland being black, but I pictured him as much more rugged and weathered, like Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly since that is who inspired the character to begin with.
