Egyptians were like West African blacks and built the pyramids?

The simple truth is we don't know. There's been a lot of research done that's inconclusive.

Butttt.....

The early Egyptians when the pyramids were being built were almost certainly a mix between Levantine Semetics and blacks from the upper Nile after the two kingdoms were united under Narmer.

So you trying to sound edgy just sounds stupid.

Technically, it's not an alternate universe. It's more of a continuation of the books.

Still not happy about the casting choice for Roland. Roland is not black and it's an integral part of the story that he is white.

No it's not. Move on to something else to be angry about.

On a positive note, how perfect of a cast is MM for the Man in black?!
I can't wait till they do a real film adaptation of The Stand and have him as Randall Flagg.

As I've said a million times before, the absolute best thing for King fans would be if HBO or Showtime picked up a miniseries called King and even season was a different king book.

The Stand
The Dark Tower
The Talisman
It
Salem's Lot

Etc....

Seems his opinion is as valid as yours or mine, but not everyone is upset as you are.

I'm hoping the movie is amazing, regardless of who is cast as whom, unless they make Oy a dog or raccoon. Then I'll burn the M/TV Board to the fricking ground.

I'll help you. But you know as well as well as I do that it's damn neat impossible to do this book series justice on the big screen and from. What we've seen so far, this isn't even a movie about the books it's an entirely different concept modeled around some of the characters and loosely resembling the plot.

....

Oy! Ake!

Spoilers obviously

I thought the film series picks up after the books conclude and that this is the "next go-round"?

Seems like the best approach. Familiar settings and characters but more artistic license.

Oh I almost forgot to mention that quote isn't mine. It's from some dude named Steve... Queen... Kink? I don't know... some random dude

Well Stephen King is a nut job so I don't care what he thinks.

I believe this is true. And they should've made the name of the movie reflect this. It would alleviate a ton of the backlash

Even if it is true, Roland Deschain of Gilead, of the Line of Eld, with bombardier blue eyes doesn't change.

How do they explain a random black guy, whose line traces back to Arthur Eld of legend? His parents, his childhood companions, in all descriptions, are white.

Unless you change all of that,

Anyone who has read the series knows this. Anyone who has any integrity knows that Roland has a certain look, demeanor and bearing.

They know that who and what he is plays into not only him as a character, but the interactions with main characters in the book.

It is blasphemy what they are doing, and in the Man Jesus's name, I can't fathom why other than to shoehorn in an actor that isn't,
Wasn't, and never will be Roland Deschain of Gilead.

It's the the go-round that's in the books, but they are hinting that it's the final go-round. It may or may not be the trip that begins with the ending of the books.

Really gives them the chance to make it better than the books. Seriously, did anyone really like the parts where King wrote himself into the story?

That was just horrible. It would have been great if the series had finished as strongly as it started but the truth is it was cringe-worthy at times over the last few books.

You shut your stupid whore mouth.

They aren't even going to get the main parts of the first book correctly. There's a 0% chance they make the movie better than the books.

I want Detta to call him a honk mahfah. His reaction can be wtf, because book Roland had no clue what a honk mahfah was anyway.
I expect they PC'd the frick out of that angle though.

I'm hoping Detta is an old white woman played by Tracy Morgan and at some point he yells out "This Honky Grandma be tripping"
