Sequels that were better than the first movie.

Lately, I've found sequels to be very underwhelming. Here are some that I liked better than the first one:
Rush Hour 2
Bad Boys 2
Empire Strikes Back
Terminator 2
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Tron: Legacy
Can you name some more?

I feel like Austin Powers 2 was better than the first and both were great.
Some of the ratings don't reflect that, but I see many reviews back up my belief.

Godfather 2 always comes up in threads like this
Men in Black 3 was better than the 2nd and maybe as good as the 1st.
TMNT 2 that's out right now is better than the one from last year.

The Spy Who Shagged Me was absolutely better than the other 2. Good call. I would put Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls in that same category. Both were good and funny, but 2nd was better.

I'll never understand why movie writers do retarded stuff like this. Makes no sense. The stories are already written, the characters already created. Why screw with things like that?
