On the other hand, what are some sequels that waited a long time and got it right?

I thought 2010 was a very good sequel, especially considering that it had to live up to the standards set by The Godfather of SciFi movies.

I think when some movies wait to long for a sequal, people get this kind of weird nostalgia about the original which clouds the sequel.
They get this weird perception about the original being some classic epic and see a faithful sequal as a disappointment, because it doesn't live up to the unrealistic expectations they've built up in their minds.

I think Zoolander 2 suffers from this, especially. Many people seem to remember Zoolander as this epic, but it's really just a funny dumb comedy, just like the sequal. Those who are disappointed with the sequal need to go watch the original again with fresh eyes. They're both good movies and the sequal fits perfectly.

Anchorman 2 just sucked.

Jesus, part 2: The Return. It's been a minute. They need to get that project out of pre-production before people lose interest.
