Season 7 cheated us of something.

Cersai's surprise at learning of Danny's invasion. We just get ladeeda after the fact. We were robbed of the shock factor. We see that big massive fleet and think Cersai has no idea it's coming. And no payoff in the first episode.

What is it about Cersei that makes you think she would be shocked or afraid of anything?

I have a bigger problem with Jamie rolling up seeing the pile of ash and destruction she just created and we don't get to see the "WTF, Cersai?!" conversation.

Because it would be a waste of soldiers. Assassins would have been a better choice.
