The opening scene is one of the most, if not the most, realistic battle scenes ever put on film.

another great one is where he is shooting the tank with his pistol and it blows and im sure the guy is thinking for a second did i do that

Is it weird to anyone else that you're watching this epic movie and boom there's Vin Diesel? Considering his career after that he seems so out of place.

i kinda like when big name actors take minor roles in films its kinda nice for someone else to take the reigns for alittle. Yes i know Tom hanks was big but still its nice

I was surprised at how many actors I could place from other movies/shows when I first watched it. Ted Dansen, Paul Giammatti, Damon, Diesel, Barry Pepper, dude who played Nick Rubenstein from Entourage, etc.

Agreed. It was a cop out ending to the battle. But that's Spielberg's stock and trade.
