Why the hell did Albert Clifford turn down a full ride to Iowa? I'm guessing Needick went to Penn State and he didn't want to face him a few times a year.

Instead of answering via speculation, I will wait for Cocomo to give the correct answer.

I'm assuming iowa parted ways when they found out about his nonchalant violations of NCAA rules. Any idiot openly admitting that Helen (from Stansbury) offered him a car to play football would surely be dumb enough to get himself busted, and Iowa wanted no part of that.

Even the way he talks about it is all fricking smug. Like he tells Jessie "she said their football team has been struggling, and, well....they've heard of me."

When Jessie gets pissed and says that he got a 1050 on his SAT, he's all "when you can throw a football 60 yards, it doesn't matter."

Then she storms off and he says "it's a good thing I didn't tell her they offered me a car!"

GTFO you arrogant prick. I'm sure Iowa wrestling has a reputation to uphold, and is glad you never went there.

Suprised he didn't get any better football offers with that cannon and how fast he was. He could have been a duel threat at UCLA.

I like to think AC and Jessie were still screwing around after they married other people.

I completely forgot about all of this.

I thought nothing of it back in the day when watching this episode.

Now people are beside themselves when they hear of an athletes accepting gifts for their services.

It's incredible how much you know about SBTB. Just incredible.

I was pretty sure I knew just as much, maybe more about SBTB than you.

After this explanation and forethought from you... I realize it's bigger than just trivial shite.

That's a great explanation. However, I wonder if Iowa was turned off because of his underage drinking with his football buddies and his presence at "drug parties" with Johnny Dakota. I know TMZ wasn't around back then, but it's food for thought.

I still say Johnny Dakota is Shane from Walking Dead, I don't care what anyone says.

Definitely possible. Word gets around, and Iowa wrestling has a reputation to uphold. So maybe they heard about him quitting wrestling before so that he could cook some cherries jubilee. Or that he lied to a federal officer and basically told West Point to frick off. Or the alcohol and weed parties like you mentioned. Or that he basically stole his high school principal's car and loaned it to some a-hole New York crook for blackmail (which is also illegal) purposes. Or maybe that he lied to all of his friends about having a fatal disease and moving to Hawaii. Or that he mooned the school crossing guard on his first day at a new school (which may or may not be a felony). Or that he sucks dick as a radio deejay.

There are any number of reasons for Iowa to pull the schooly offer to an a-hole like Albert Clifford Slater. Ole Martin and (I believe) Loretta did a horrible job as parents.

Also, SBTB knowledge is one thing that I'd put up against anyone in the world. I'd put my knowledge of the show up against Peter Engel in a trivia contest and bet money on it. Sure, it's ultimately useless, but it's one of my legit useless talents.

Hahahaha, this made my morning.

Also I forgot he quit to cook one time.
