I defy you to find another instance in film where the score and imagery were so well aligned.

ending with...

THE BEACONS ARE LIT!!! GONDOR CALLS FOR AID!!!!

pause

And Rohan Will Answer...

MUSTER THE ROHIRRIM!!!!

I still get so pumped every single time.

How far apart were those fires supposed to have been? The inhabitants of Middle Earth had stronger vision than most of us post TV, laptop and smart phone folks. We all wear glasses, have contacts or surgery by 40.

When the show the mountain stretches of the beacons lighting, I always think about the frickers that had to sit and wait to do it.

Yep. Indeed. I just ordered the trilogy in 4K despite already owning the DVD and Blu-ray versions.

I do to and I hate that I do it. I get distracted by things like food, bathroom, etc.

The inexplicable downvote must be from someone upset I didn't post the scene.

So, here

Sam was amazing.
He was rewarded like a hero too. He didn't have to move away nd he got the girl at the end! Had a home and a family.
Also Aragorn is crowned King of Gondor and marries Arwen.

Just like Sergeant York.

Other great movies that had the hero/good guy getting the girl in the end:
The African Queen.Back to the Future

True Romance
Desperado
Trading Places
Rocky
Speed
There's Something About Mary
High Noon
Caddyshack
The Natural
North by Northwest
The Princess Bride
The Big Country
Planet of the Apes (1968)
The Quiet Man
The older James Bond movies
McLintock!
The Fifth Element
Good Will Hunting
Open Range
The Apartment
The Bourne Identity
Tombstone
Blue Velvet
Boyz n the Hood-Tre goes to college with Brandi at the end.
Die Hard movies someone usually ended up with the girl.
A Fish Called Wanda
Dances with Wolves
The Guns of Navarone-Anthony Quinn got the girl.

Rio Bravo/El Dorado-John Wayne got Feathers/Maudie at the end.

3:10 to Yuma 2007/1958-Christian Bale & Van Heflin got to go home with the money to pay the bills to keep his home, his wife & his kids.

Winchester '73 Do you Jimmy Stewart seetle down with Shelley Winters at the end?

Did Josey Wales live happily ever after Laura Lee?

Spartacus-Sure he died on a cross, but he got the girl and knew he was going to have a child.

Who doesn't like a happy ending?

Would like to note, I was very disappointed when Jason Robards died, instead of living happily ever after, with Claudia Cardinale in Once Upon a Time in the West (1969

The scene that gets me amped is in the Two Towers when Gimli blows the horn of Helm Hammerhand.

Just imagine how awesome it would be to hear that horn on the first light of the 5th day at dawn while you're looking to the east.

Another trilogy that good and that dedicated to the source material will probably never be made again.

I swear if I ever wrote a novel, any contract with a studio to turn it into a movie or TV show would have clauses that allowed me to veto changes.
