I do kind of agree they might be going for a Hunger Games heroin type feel.

Looks pretty good. Hopefully it's not another rehash of a previous film like TFA.

Personally I like the tone of the trailer. More space drama instead of fun space joyride.

I think she will be tempted by it. Not through power, but anger. She has that in her. I think she'll find out about Luke being her father, him knowing she was on Jakku, and leaving her to suffer. I think that's what will lead her to abandoning Luke in Episode VIII and she'll find it hard to forgive him.

I don't think this movie is going for "fun." Don't get me wrong, it will be fun because it's Star Wars, but the tone is supposed to be dark. This is between the time a Sith Emperor throws an intergalactic coup and a movie literally subtitled "A New Hope." There is no hope for anything other than tyranny at this point, and with that being the looming black cloud growing in the background I believe this movie should be very dark and gritty.

My honest reaction

1. Holy shite Star Wars!
2. Oh wait, it looks like a really shitty action movie

The next one is a Han Solo stand alone movie, so not for long.

This is a mistake, they should have made a space western with boba fett

Not exactly. The next one is 8, so another female lead. But the one after that you are correct.

I wish they would ax the Solo movie. I can't get behind a non-Ford Solo.

I mean it looks like the scope is huge, and they're depicting a war, but I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I see that stock shot from every trailer for every shitty movie ever made...that trailer won't tell me anything about the quality though and overall I'm excited and I don't care it's another female lead

The scale of the battle scene with the walkers though...that looked cool

Don't act like there's some deep meaning to them being edgy. If it's edgy, it's because "edgy sells! people like edgy." It's not some poetic rationale. It's just another formula, as usual.

There was supposed to be one. Tranks was directing, his craziness caused them to put it on the back burner. No news on if it will get picked back up.

There was a report recently about a writer being brought in really late in the process to fix the script. Apparently Disney was not happy with the initial one.

I liked it

I've felt for someone Jones was going to end up being rey's mom. This pretty much confirms it for me

I think they'll be doing an Obi Wan film instead. Ewan McGregor basically confirmed it in a recent interview.

It has to fit into a universe that's already been laid out. There's no "let's make it edgy" argument to this movie like there is to rumors about a Poe + Finn relationship. The rebellion is new, sparse, and desperate for a win. The only thing formulaic that I can see is using a scrappy outsider that seemingly doesn't care about the bigger cause that will eventually come around to serve the rebels in a big way. And I'm ok with that.
